Need Help with my IACV

My Maxima idles at 2K rpm i know thats not right and wastes like a ton of gas and i had my car diagnosed and the only problem that came up was a emissions EVAP problem i don't think that is causing the high idle a mechanic told me it was the IACV (idle air control valve) so i bought one cost me $200, i was wondering how to install it i never did it before and hopefully thats the problem because everything else seems to be fine. Unless the computer needs to be like re calibrated or something

can anyone give me more info on this topic, is there any specific things i need to know about the IACV and do you guys think thats whats causing my high idle.

iacv itself has a screw that adjust the idle check to see if thats in the right place then the iacv itself is only 4 screws maybe you should try taking it off and trying to clean it i know when i did mine i only had about 80k and there was alot of carbon build up

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=512892 post #28 shows you everything

Its not really that hard. Undo the electrical connectors on the old one, remove the bolts, disconnect the vacuum hose, and pull it off. Throw on a new gasket along with the new IACV and then adjust it using the proceedure in the stickies.

I would try to clean the old one. That would be a start if that doesnt solve it you have the new one.

Only at cold idle or after warmup too? Check your TPS calibration and for vacuum leaks.
