IACV=Idle Air Control Valve
TB=Throttle Body
EGR=Exhaust Gas Recirculatio

All the abbreviations are here in this sticky.

Ive got a quick question about the bose system in a 97, when i have the cd or radio on it only plays through the door speakers/tweeters and when i play the tape it only plays on the driver side door. About 6 months ago i had accidently played the radio with the back pass. side speaker/amp unconected and when i plugged it in that speaker wouldnt work. i just drove around like that and about a month ago the other rear speaker stopped working. do you think its possible i messed up the pre amp in the radio if it even has one, and if it doesnt what could be making it do this??? thanks

Clean your maf and TB. Check your IACV and clean/replace as necessary.

When the car is at idle, air is bypassed around the TB and into the engine using the IACV. If the IACV is messed up, then no air will flow into the engine, and to keep the car running, you have to give it gas to crack open the TB plate.

Sometimes cleaning the MAF and TB is the fix. Sometimes the IACV is so far gone, u need to replace it.

The oil light comes on after it stalls? That's normal. The car is "ON" but it not sensing any oil pressure...

Maybe some parts are, but the front fenders are shaped differently, most noticeably at the front tip. I would think that this shape difference would also make parts for the grill different.

I get my information from looking at a parts list. The website is Nissan4u.com. I looked at a Northern European Maxima and a USA maxima parts list. Here are 2 links for the front fenders.

This is the Northern European Maxima:

This is the USA Maxima:

96 i30t Questions

Hey everybody! I'm planning on doing a few upgrades on my 96 i30t:
Wheels, Cefiro headlights, Cefiro Sport VIP grille and Polyurethane Headlight Eyelids

Now I've been searching around and couldn't really find a straight forward answer so I'm hoping someone can help me.. I'm trying to figure out first, whether or not these tsw zolder 5: 19x8.5" -235/35R19 will fit without rubbing or do I need to lowering springs/ bolt adapters?

Second question is does anyone know where I can acquire one of these grilles with the mesh?? Is it just a Sport VIP grill with custom work?

And finally I'm gonna buy the one piece Cefiro headlights and eyelids. Do these http://www.paradox-systems.com/produ...roducts_id=158 maxima eyelids fit on a 96 i30t?

Self-Unlocking Door and Cannot Program FOBS--Baffled!!!

I would be suspect of the BCM being at fault, either internally or being requested by the MRCU, given the issue in programming in a new remote.

Having copies of the key doesn't matter for any Nissan earlier than '99, that's when NATS was first introduced.
I tried replacing the master switch with a used one, but the problem persists. Yesterday I had a scare because my car would not start, no lights worked, had no power at all for about 5 minutes. I opened and shut the driver's door a couple of times, then everything worked and it started up. At the moment, I'm keeping my doors unlocked at all times so I can enter/exit the car and start it.

Should I try replacing the BCM next, or is there another way to find out if the MRCU is causing the issue before buying/installing another part? I've already installed a master switch and door lock actuator.

Yes, they'll fit.

Balance them? If there's a tire vibration, sure. If not, why?

I have a few questions, hope its fine if i put them in one post instead of multi posting =).

1) Did 95 maxima GXE come with a stock alarm? I have an anti theft light that blinks when my car is off. But i don't know how to actually activate the alarm (if there is one) i don't have any buttons on my key, and turning the key to lock the door twice locks all doors, but no alarm is enabled.

2) [edit] I'm sure my car came with wireless key entry. I put the key in and out fast a few times (was actually less that everywhere said, everywhere said 6... mine did it in 4) and the hazards blinked twice. Now, for the 2nd part of the question that i have yet to figure out myself, will any kind of wireless car key work? EX. the universal remote keys on ebay. (search 4ch rf) http://www.ebay.com/itm/4CH-12V-DC-3...item5d30376e75

3) *most importanat* My passenger door key pins seem to be stuck. I can insert the key, but i cannot turn it to unlock or lock. I have to either A) go to driver door and unlock all doors then walk to passenger to get what i need, or b) unlock driver and reach to passenger side to get what i need. This is annoying as sometimes i may be in a hury to get what i need. the door DOES lock if the inside lock is locked via manually(from inside) or power through driver (outside/inside)

4) Is there any place i can buy ALL 4 doors + the ignition cylinder to match 1 key? I remember on an older vehicle i had to replace the ignition becuase the key was not working in it. I then had 2 keys, 1 for doors and 1 for starting the car, i dont want that. If i have to replace my passenger, i want them all to match to 1 key.

Thank you for any and all help given.

From what i've gathered thus far on the site, all the 4th gens were prewired for the stock keyless entry.

you will need the factory key fob...i dont remember the part number off hand, but i know it's listed many times on this site.

3) *most importanat* My passenger door key pins seem to be stuck. I can insert the key, but i cannot turn it to unlock or lock. it sounds like one or a few tumblers have come loose within the cylinder. I personally dont know how to repair those besides just getting another one that works and having it rekeyed by a locksmith.

4) Is there any place i can buy ALL 4 doors + the ignition cylinder to match 1 key? I remember on an older vehicle i had to replace the ignition becuase the key was not working in it. Not sure about being able to buy all of them at once, but again, i'm pretty sure you can just get the new lock cylinders set to operate with your old key.

Thank you for any and all help given.

yes. you can't post ANY NEW THREADS if you have under 15 posts.

You currently have 8, but you can't spam-post any of the forums or modpowers will ban your butt :-)

Could you do a VQ35DE swap into an automatic Maxima? Is it a direct fit? What about the ECU?

Yes. Depends on how you do it. What about it?

This has all been covered quite a bit, search or just read through AM, you'll find your answers.

Any '95-'01 VQ30 will work, you'll just need to swap your emissions equipment over depending on what you get.

Is the hood lock, 62515, welded onto the upper radiator support? It's free from the lower radiator support by removing the bolts but it still stuck on the upper support. If it's welded should I drill it off then bolt it back up while installing?

Engine Sound: Womp Womp Womp

Per site rules, I'm posting my question here. I'm newly learning DIY car maintenance, so please excuse any ignorance I may have.

When I start my 1997 Maxima SE, the engine make a low, moaning, groaning wooooooooomp wooooooooomp woooooooooomp sound. It generally goes away after the car has warmed up/been driven for a while.

I hear it more clearly while sitting in the driver's seat than with the hood up looking in the engine (not sure why). As such, I have not been able to pinpoint the sound other than generally on the driver's side (maybe in the back) of the engine.

Any ideas on what could be the culprit?

I believe it is spot welded in place, yes. Any spots where welds are removed for disassembly should be re-welded for reassembly.

Can you get an audio clip? I can't even begin to think of what that even sounds like, much less what it is.

YES

Look @ the "how-to" sticky at teh top of the 4th gen subforum. you pop the corner lights (rearward-most ones) off, then unscrew the one holding the turn signal.

For the fogs, you push up and slide out teh black piece on the inside of the lenses. For my 99 there is no pop-up", just a plastic screw to undo and the section comes out.

Can you hear the blend door switching to the defrost position? If you put it on defrost, where is the air actually coming out of?

Blend door could be getting hung up, an actuator problem, something else. Did this just start happening?

Do you have automatic or manual climate control?
