Info Needed For 3.5 Swap

So ill give you all the info everything I can. The maxima has blown its engine :S and is done, and the seal between the cat-back and catalytic is gone. So I was going to do a 3.5 swap in the summer but since the car is now mine and needs a new engine I get to do it sooner then I had expected. I dont know much about what engine I need to use or that kind of stuff thats why im asking you guys. I have a buddy who is going to help me with the swap and he owns his own garage. I was planning on doing a 3.5 swap, suspension, and brakes all at the same time. The starter is brand new, and same with the Alternator. Im not sure if i can get the tranny looked at because I cant even get the car going. So besides the suspension, brakes, alternator, tranny, and starter what kinds of stuff should I look at before I put it in? Also should I be worried about the body at this point there is a bit of rust here and there but i was thinking that i would go the preformance this summer store it for he winter and then do body summer after. What you think?

Any info that will help me would be great

Thx
Jeff

you are going to have to read the stickies in the all motor section. All the information you need is in there.

like routine maintenance? Or what? I mean what do you want to be good before the swap? your tranny is the only thing that I can think of that needs to be in very good condition.
- Alternator needs to be working correctly
- new battery?
- maybe a new idler pully
- new powersteering pump?
- Steering rack
- check your radiator support
- MOTOR MOUNTS
- sensors
- new plugs
- new gaskets
All this and more is in the all motor section just to let you know
Did you read through ALL of those links and more? You will find your answers. You really should not go into this swap with out doing a MAJOR amount of research, read on here, read the FSM's, and then read some more. You need to be sure of everything before you take anything apart. You need to know step by step what needs to be done and the only way to know this is to research it. READ..READ..and READ some more. id say atleast 10 hours of researching, just a number off the top of my head. I and many others on this board have spend numerous hours reading and learning to be able to successfully complete swaps. Its not something you just decide you are going to do and then jump into it expecting everything to work when you think you are finished and turn the key the first time. I learned the hard way the first time.
