What exactly are you looking for?

It will not help "low-end". It increases the firmness in shifts and decreases the amount of time that the tranny shifts.

Are you planning on installing this yourself? It involves removing the tranny pan just so you know....

man then the person i talk 2 about it sure exagerted, he said it makes the ride about a .4 sec quicker, do you recommend getting a tranny cooler also because of the harder shift?

Tranny cooler is cheap insurance to keep the wear on your tranny to a minimum.

It will NOT be .4 quicker. I am not auto so perhaps someone else can chime in but it will not make up nearly half a second.

If I knew I would have. I am 5MT so I am not too involved with automatics.

I don't want this to get into a street racing thread but:

-If you can, race from a dig only.

-If you plan to do this alot, consider getting a 5MT. If you didn't know, besides the gear ratios a manual transmission makes more power to the ground because there is less frictional loss (less moving parts) from the engine to wheels.

If you have any streetracing questions PM me. The 4th gen forum isn't a place for benchracing (not that you were).

i agree on the 5mt but i'm going to be teaching my mom and girlfriend how to drive soon, then maybe pass along my 4th gen for maybe a 4th gen engine swap or 5th gen maxima, and i do more regular driving than racing, but im just doing this because i was called out

Hi flow cat
i have the valve body mod, to tell you truth i hardly notice it at all during normal driving conditions. but when you floor it, the car shifts hard it feels nice! but i dont feel its worth it unless you are super charged which im not. so unless you are planning on SC dont bother with it there are other options for the money you will spend on this that will add more HP to your ride. Just my opinion.

You should pm erty67, he has the valve body mod, and he had it done at maxima tuning. He could answer all of your questions!

The VB will lessen the 1/4 mile. I don't know about how much but I have some base work done now on with my current setup using the PLX R-300 software. You can actually look at the graph and see how long it takes to shift from 1-2 and from 2-3. Its very consistant. I'm sure once I get the VB the shift will take less time. I'm hoping the graph will prove this.

I have this mod and it's not .4 faster. However, it does shift firmer than stock and you could feel it since the tc won't slip as much as stock.

The cons, however, is that since the tranny won't slip as much, you could feel a power dip right after the shift. This won't be felt with turbo/sc cars, but if you are stock and you are being honest, you will feel it.

I have mine installed at Maximum Tuning and after driving around with another Maxima, I am a bit leaning towards having it stock again (but it does not bother me much so I am still keeping it). I have a tranny cooler installed at the same time, so be prepared for a long warm up if you are driving in sub-zero weather. One time the tranny actually shifts back from locking the tc (the "5th" gear") to slipping the overdrive (the "4th" gear) since it was really cold outside (-20 F windchill).
