best battery for maxima (or fav)
whats the best proven battery for our maximas?
AND whats your favorite! DONT let the two questions fool ya.
i need a new battery soon, i dont want to spend to much, but i dont put 100% faith into consumer reports - tho i do look.
i would really like an optimum battery but too expensive, what are its downfalls anyways?
those lightweight batteries are nice, but i dont really want to lighten the load much yet.

I just replaced my battery yesterday, i didnt have much money on me, so i got the smallest economy Duralast from autozone. Seems to work fine for now, we'll see when it gets cold. Seems like a nice weight reduction from the stock one though.

Yellow Top FTW... you will never need more CCA's in a Maxima than it can put out and it has better deep cycle properties than the red top, i.e:can be run completly dead more times and still recover and can run certain loads longer w/o the car on

Best battery= What ever the Maxima group size is with the highest CCA at the best price. I have a red top for looks, durability, and high CCA rating. There are better batteries at that price (or less) but they dont look good.
My favorite battery= VIP lawn and garden, $20.

Nissan OEM battery.
A question to the weight freaks. How do the small batteries last in normal driving (or do you just swap them in for track)? I like the idea of both the weight and the room it frees up. Thanks!

Actually i cant complain about mine, my car came with one (it should've been replaced at some point, but im not sure, could be original) and it still starts on a dime, even in -15 deg. weather. It plays my stero for 4 hours while im workin in the garage, and has yet to fail me. Good battery, but i hesitate to think what they'd charge for one, and the optima in my Allante has been nice too, but that car has the battery hidden behind the passenger seat, so a gel battery makes a ton of sense...

They last a long time and I have never had an issue. I'm on my second battery since 1999 when I bought the car. I can think of several people who've had to buy more batteries in the same time period.

Wow, I am honselty surprised at the number of OEM batts...Ive got a duralst in mine, I need a new one, it died on me a while back and doesnt start instantly, but anyway...not sure what I'll get when I decide to get one, probably OEM or red top, those seem to be the top choices here.

Always used Interstate in all of our cars. Already had one by chance in mine when I bought the max. I have a nasty habit of sitting in the turned-off car with the stereo running loud for 15-30 minutes whenever I'm waiting on someone/thing or if I'm eating somewhere, and it hasn't failed to start up instantly one time yet.

there is not that muc differance between all the upper class batteies, INterstates top batter, autocraf rgold , durlast gold, they are almost all the same battery.
I Use duralast. I have a 48 dl which is the passatt battery, it has about 150 more CCA than a maxima 35 series batery. It has lasted me more than 2 years, and still starts 100% perfect.

ok... i have this issue - doesnt happen everytime but happens.
i put car in park, the lights are on the car is on, i have the windows closed but i pressed the WINDOW UP buttons on both front windows and then the car shut down. the lights were still on. WTF is that? is it my battery or a wireing problem?

Have a Yellow Top - love it - actually helped a bit with my lights dimming from my stereo. Now I have a seperate battery in the trunk for that and between the two - I don't think I'll ever have a problem starting the car.
Got the Yellow Top for under a 100 (local) - you just have to shop around.

So, lets say someone had the "extra" money to spend, would you buy a Red or Yellow Top? The whole "deep cycle" thing seems like a nice plus.
As for me... I bought a Die Hard a few months ago and it works excellent for me. And as far as I know, it came with a lifetime warranty.
