Rough starts...FPR or Fuel Pump?

The past year or so, if my car sits for more than 6 hours, I have to pump the gas pedal a few times to start the car; most times, it stumbles and I have to try again. Once it starts, everything else seems to run fine. The problem is worse in hot weather than in cold weather. The starter turns over fine. I've already tried to add additional grounds to the starter but still no help. I also have a new alternator and battery.

I read somewhere in another forum that the FPR is responsible for holding the fuel pressure when the car is not in use to maintain a smooth start. Could my FPR be bad?

Also, I can hear the Fuel Pump initialize when the ignition key is turned on. Isn't it suppose to prime the lines, anyway? Is my fuel pump not getting enough pressure to prime? I've already had to replace the fuel pump once before.

If the FPR needs to be replaced, I noticed that the aftermarket adjustables are way cheaper than the stock. Any comments or suggestions on this, also?

Thanks,
John
