Pinstripe - should it stay or should it go?

A question I've been asking myself for years now. It's not in the best of shape (faded in certain spots), but kinda takes the eyes away from all the door dings on the side (grrrrr!), so it has stayed. The time has come again when I am asking this question and you all decide the fate of the pinstripe.

P.S. Use the sig pic for two more pictures of it.

I marked its got to go but really it depends on the color of your car(darker the color the less I like the stripe). On your car I would lose it. I do think that the pin stripe helps the car not look as bubbly(sp) and a little longer and lower. but when I put my stillen kit on and lowered my car I lost mine and I think it looks alot better without it. $.02

Thanks for all the replies .... keep em coming! I plan on getting a kit some day and when I do that the stripe is for sure gone. But, that won't be for a while so I am trying to decide whether to lose it now or hold off for a little while. Keep the opinions coming and thanks for the compliments!

It will not change the look of your car,to the average person. But to people on an open forum it will be overthought and overanalized to DEATH! I say get rid of it, but then again I would like to quote TOOL: (AGAIN!)
Overthinking, overanalizing, separates the body from the mind.

P.S. you will not like your car any more or less with or without it. Just go out and enjoy your cool ride.

Keep it until you get the kit. If you take it off before you make any other visual changes, it will make the car look bare and awkward to you. Thought it's not a major deal, it's something that will play on your mind when you get in and out of it. Nice car, btw.

It distracts from the beauty of your cars color, it just looks like a streak I want to buff out

since your car is already a unique color, get rid of it.

IN THE END, ITS ALL UP TO YOU, IF YOU LIKE IT THEN THAT ALL THAT SHUD MATTER.

it you had a black maxima or something id say keep it just to have something that stands out compared to all the other ones on the road.

i have pinstripes on my GTI. i like it.

I'm going to go against the majority on this one and say keep it. If you do get a kit though, then I'd lose it. Beautiful looking color! If I could choose the color of my Max that'd be it, but for now the rosewood is standing me in good stead. Your pics have inspired me, I need to wash/wax my new baby and clear the lights ASAP.

sometimes when pinstriping is taken off after so many years even a ****load of detailing cant get ride of the "line". Even if its just a little bit there, not worth it imo.

Keep it.

The crowd has spoken! It's coming off tonight. Thanks to all your opinions and compliments. I am glad so many of you responded on the first day of the post. I had just washed it and am in need of waxing it, but want to pull this off so I can make sure there is no residue or fading when I get done waxing it. Thanks to all, and I will take after pics in a few days and show you all to see if you approve. Thanks again!

I personaly like the pin stripe. Although I think that some custom pinstripes would look a lot better I think it gives it a little style to it.

It's about 1/8 the way off. That's the final decision. Give me a few days to get it all the way off (it's really caked on there) and then pics will be posted. So far, I'm happy with the decision, and I have a dent guy coming over to my work tomorrow to try to make the side of my car not look like the ocean anymore .

How are you guys taking it off? Anytime i have done it the end result is never worth it. But i do agree cars look better without it so im curious for my own car how everyone is removing theirs.

Pin stripes make the car look older and more dated. Plus it detracts a little from the clean lines of the car.

I would remove it assuming that there was no adverse damage to the paint or other issues.

Take the pin stripe off, but put some hot pink racing stripes down the middle of your car. 10 HP FTMFW

It's a tough choice to make. I am not a big fan of pinstripes. However, on your car it looks ok... You can go either way. BTW! Nice Color!!!

Pinstripe is so '80s. Get rid of it. That is the first and only "mod" I have done to my Max.

Forget about the pinstripe, my concern is why don't you have a 97+ front end conversion I made my vote.
