I wouldn't say it's great on gas. I only get maybe 20 MPG around town (but managed almost 30 MPG on a trip I just took that was only maybe 1/2 highway miles ). I also don't know about it being easy to modify since we have like zero aftermarket. I also don't agree on parts being cheap, especially not OEM stuff. Personally I can't see the "everyone has one" thing since I was one of only 2 people at my school that drove one and we are the only 2 in the whole county I know of.

I'd go with looks, a nearly bulletproof engine, and like Tatanko said having a car that few others have.

1. its a great car to pick up chicks!
2. lot of room to get creative when you have the chicks
3. has a big boot to carry all the booz
4. easy mods like the ypipe and CAI which has to give you like 30+hp
5. awesome service and prices at the nissan dealership
6. automatic acceleration is the best thing in the world, it requires no skill to mash the gas pedal, and i even beat a civac once
7. maintence is so awesome! i only had to change out my cv joints, airfilter, pcv valve, struts, control arm, rotors, knocksenor, sparkplugs, coilpacks, alternator, starter, hood struts, muffler.
8. its
9. a
10. MAXIMA, course i luv it!

what i hate about my maxima?

The good:
1. I have one(can't love something that dont work for ya)
2. Nice interior
3. Revvy engine
4. Smooth engine
5. Bose audio
6. Easy spark plug change(engine heads face forward, not backwards like camrys)
7. Fog lamps
8. 4 wheel 4 chanel ABS
9. 4DSC haha they dont put those stickers on anymore
10. Tilting sunroof

Now what I don't like:
1. Rear beam axle!!!! (wishbones please)
2. Body ad door curve inwards at bottom(so you need side skirts to look good)
3. 4 speed (5speed please)
4. Strut suspension (really would have prefered wishbones)
5. Wiper refills hard to find

10. I30!

But yes, even with an i30, i think everyone has one, ...ie its nothing special to see one, i dont get excited seeing one on the road like i do with an allante, but then again they made 21k of those in 7 years, they prob made 21k of these in about 7 days....but clearly its not really rare

2. it's roomy and comfortable
3. Looks like it's worth more then it really is
4. Has all the options any nice car would have
5. Has a great roar from stop sign to stop sign
6. Fast enough to put a smile on my face and slow enough not to kill me
7. Looks sick @ss modded
8. Girls like em', but it's never about them
9. It's an SE
10. Last but not least, i have 2 of em

What i hate:

have you ever seen an s15 silvia, r34 skyline, or even a toyota supra? I could name a bunch other that blow the maxima out of the water in the looks department, not to mention the performance department.

what Tavarish said.. and have you ever seen a "Cedric/Gloria or a Laurel?" I would give everything I own for one of those cars and they by FAR are better than the max could ever hope to be. They had a CVT option for the autos back then, not to mention almost every Nissan engine option available known to man.

The only other car I always really liked was the Toyota Chaser..

i used to love my car back in the days. but in the time it took me to modify it to how i wanted it, i got used to it and bored with it. and now that i have 10 grand into it, im basically stuck with it !

currently what i love the most about my car is that its hella unique. wherever i go, i drive a unique car. all the other maximas are bone stock with maybe rims or tint. so i love the fact that its hella unique and something most people have never seen (a heavily moded 4th gen). you see altered g35's bmw's and mustangs on every block, every kid is doin the same thing and they all copyin each other........

and of course without the .org, none of this woulda been possible ! im sure a lot of you guys feel me on this. the rare-ness of a fixed up 4th gen

As far as the boredom issue I just solved mine VIP. I bought a mint '83 280zx for $600, who woulda thought for that price lmao.. engine rebuilt and practically all electrical has been re-done lol. Too bad its N/A. So the max is my daily driver.

Try selling it perhaps even though that sounds like a shame..

yea VIP youre car is defenitely the nicest and most tastefully done 4th gen ive seen yet.

as for my 10 reasons....

10. long lost ancestor of the 350z/G35 (VQ engine)
9. that front end is just so beautiful
8. sporty, but still good for carrying passengers
7. beautiful sounding engine when modded
6. car in general is just as smooth as silk
5. can be a sleeper
4. modded ones arent very common (where i live....)
3. luxurious (i have a GLE)
2. controls are ergonomically friendly
1. The mighty VQ of course

If I can get $5500 out of the Max, then perhaps I can put something a bit more worthy into that HUGE engine bay.

After my first car (1992 cavalier) crapped out I was very suprized I could afford a car that had so many features.

I'm very happy to own a Nissan, and even happier that it's a loaded 1995 Maxima SE with only 92K!

No longer a 4th gen owner, but I did previously own 2 modded 4th gens, and now I am looking to get back into another one within the next few months.

Without making a long numbered list of likes and dislikes:

I really like what the 4th gen can offer for the money. You get a bulletproof and smooth V6 engine that is part of a potentially full optioned interior and it is reliable and looks good. Plus, the extra power you can get out of it by doing cheap mods is always a perk. All around it is just a really great car to own and drive and is incredibly well-rounded.

What I dislike about the car is the FWD and suspension. Also, it seemed like when one thing went wrong with the car, a lot started to go wrong with the car. Oh, and lets not forget having to change the sensors and all that BS.

True I miss Ludacris, Airmattdog and some others as well.. I was here reading about 2 years before I got my '98. I think with prices dropping on 4th Gens that the crowd who owns them are getting worse and worse, and in turn so does the 4th Gen forum. wish we could take it back a few years, haha back when Mr. K was in the commercials.

On a side note, I wish I was a moderator I'd do 10x better guaranteed.

1. It's a Nissan
2. the VQ is a good, powerful-esque engine
3. roomy enough for my 6'5" butt
4. The Blowse (Bose) sound system actually sounds ok enough for me not to replace it
5. I can fit all 3 of my friends in it
6. it's fast enough to get me in trouble, so it needs to go faster
7. they aren't usually modified
8. black paint
9. black leather
10. it's better than my Camry was on gas

VQ will eat up VTEC any day of the week, just watch the edmunds video comparison of luxury AWD sedans. The M35x owned the RL in the 0-60 with less horses.
