Seafoam...

I know there have been threads on this before, and I know there is a write up somewhere. I checked all sticky and the last 25 pages of threads and found none of the things that I know are out there. Im getting close to 95k and figure its time to run some seafoam. I heard both good and bad things about this stuff and still am not sure if I want to do this. My friend just put some in his trans am, nothing bad happand to him. Any input about seafoam would be sweet, and if anyone knows where that write up is for it that would be awesome too.

Thanks,

Matt

I used seafoam in my crankcase and now look what happend. I think in high mileage situations it is best to leave it out of the oil. I do recommend use through the gas tank and vacuum hose though. I works way to well in the crankcase, because it will get rid of all the crap that is holding a higher mileage engine together IMO.

Yeah the seafoam writeup was in a thread a while back. Unfortunatly I cant search so I'm really no help. But I havnt heard bad things about seafoam in the vac hose I believe. I didnt know it went in the gas tank as well. I'm sure someone will post that thread tho.

:edit: hey I'm back. Google is the best. I found this so far. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=335609

I have done the Seafoam via brake booster hose twice. Car seems to run smoother. I think once a year is about right.

hmm I coulda sworn there was a complete write up on how to do this step by step, but I guess not. If someone finds please let me know.

From all i've researched you do 1 can of seafoam in the gastank, and 1 can sipped through the brake booster line? right?

Anyone else got any stories about seafoam? Im pretty sure im going to do this 1 day before I change my oil.

i believe on the can it says that 1/3 the can go in via brake booster line, 1/3 you can put into the gas tank, and 1/3 in the crank case. I think thats what it says but i've used it on my Ranger and its work wonder. Expessally with 140,000.

I think i'll do this soon. Not sure what to do for the cranck case so I'll do 1/3 gas and 1/3 brake booster.

:edit: one ?. Should the tank be realitivly empty or full when putting in the seafoam?

once a year is fine, once you do it you better change your oil asap.

only difference is that he used deep creep... but, same idea. I'm going to do this very soon.

Ahh i knew it wouldnt stay away too long...

First check the fluids and lubes forum, they should have threads on it..

But anyways...seafoam...

In the gas, waste, theres much better stuff:Gunmount Regane, Techron, and Fuel power

In the oil: waste, and i think dangerous, please dont do this, use Lubecontrol for real light stuff, Auto-rx for heavy stuff, or light stuff.

In the intake, go throught the brake booster, at a high idle, and put it in VERY slow, if you go to fast you could hydrolock the engine, so go slow.

Anyways thats my $.02
