Is a BBK really worth it for street use?

Just like the title says is a BBK really worth it for street use? I was looking at the 13" cobra rotors equipped with the Z32 calipers. I guess it would be mainly for looks.

A few questions

Do I have to grind on the LCA to accomodate the larger rotor from hitting?

Do you get shorter stopping distances? I know you get less brake fade.

Well I dont remember everything I was gonna ask so give me all the pros and cons of the BBK. I have been doing some research and some say that a BBK will lock up faster then standard brakes on our car.

Its really more for looks. Unless you have more power than you need its really not.

My main question is do I have to grind on the LCA to accomodate the larger rotor from hitting with the cobra rotors?

Where can I get 300zx to maxima brake lines at? And what price?
What a cheap place for pads? Hawk pads

Mat93se sells the lines. They are $50 a set.
You do not have to grind the LCA when using Jeff93se BBK brackets for the cobra rotors.
You can get cheaper duralast gold pads at autozone for about $35 they are lifetime warranty. So if they wear take them back and you get new ones.

i mean reguardless how fast your max is or is GOING to be... a bbk is worth it in general for more safety than anything... i got into an accident from sumone cutting me off on the highway then slamming on his brakes and i rearended him. im sure if i had a bbk i wouldnt have 3g in damage. not to hate on nissan but the OEM brakes arent that great.... but then again in my situation i dont have ABS... so i mean its up to you.. braking in my opinion is more important than speed. my cousins vw r32 comes from the factory with HUGE front brakes, and when ive been with him ppl will cut him off or were not paying attention and it stops on a dime.
when driving anything can happen from animals to jerkoffs on the road.. its up to you man.. i mean its one of those things you wouldnt regret. for me i would say
$700 or less bbk > thousands in damage

just my .02

IIRC you can do a J30 setup and keep your 16s.

bbk is not always for people who have power. i am in desperate need for a bbk due to just my wheels and i only have a few "power" mods.......

the question to your answer is car specific.

Just for looks??? You've got to be kidding me...

Brakes : Suspension : Engine Should be the order of which you mod your car if you're trying to perform well.
Now, of course 90% or more of the people on the .org aren't planning on tracking the car... but if your intentions are to get the best performance out of a car... that is definitely a very widely used rule of thumb.

A BBK is worth more than it costs in my opinion... It has so many advantages, no cons, and on most of the kits available for the 4th gen, you can get pads for cheap because they're for an oem caliper(Z32, J30, etc.)... unlike brembo, k-sport, wilwood kits, etc...

If you've got the money to spend, don't question it... you'll never regret getting a BBK

People are willing to spend so much going faster, but nothing to stop them again. One can never have too much engine or stopping power.

Great thanks a lot Zack. What are you not selling thats needed? Besides for calipers obviously. SS lines, pads, is there pad hardware that I would need? I'm thinking Q45 calipers. Should I think about the 300zx calipers?

I think it's worth it. 99% of cars are "underbraked" from the factory IMO.

switching to an alluminum calipwer with a 2 piece rotor shaves a nice amount of weigh of the car. if you cant afford a 2 piece rotor you still are going to be using an alluminum caliper which saves alot of weight when it is compared to the stock iron caliper.

if you are using 13 inch cobra rotors baer makes 2 piece rotors. if you are using a 6th gen rotor, there is a member here on the org that sells a 2 piece 6th gen rotor. the weight savings come from the alluminum hat.
