see sig. a good R/D is not a replacement for driving safely and smartly and scanning ahead for the .

however, it is a good insurance policy - no more, no less.

why do you say that? Did you still get ticketed when you had yours?

I think his opinion comes from the fact that even tho you have a radar detector it doesnt mean you'll always be able to outsmart the cops. I'm on the same page but I still want to get one just in case. Just gotta hide it somewhere.

Starsnstripes, i have the same exact model. good detector, honestly, not the best but it gets the job done for me. the thing i love about it is the voice alerts and automute. the beeping drives me insane half the time, voice is a good heads up feature. BTW. make sure when you mount it, the wiper blades and any other obstructions arent in the way. this detracts from accuracy. i was getting swat for signals, but when i moved it to a diff. location, it worked much much better.

just some food for thought i guess.

**** i have a cobra too...i think it might be an earlier model but i have had two and have experienced no performance difference, so my bet would say that one is the same too. but i hear valentine is the best or passport something. The detector is a good friend if you pay attention...if you neglect it, it will abandon you. Just ask me and my ticket i got...damn motorcycle cops...

subject line is asking for radar detectors on dashboard. i think that looks tacky. Wires dangling to the cig lighter is also tacky. But it's fashion, so debatable.

I used to have a cobra and thought it wasnt bad. But since changing to the x50 the detection distance blows it away, I would stay away from Cobra and save up for the better ones out there.

Passport 8500 x50

best one out there. Costs 300-350 bucks, but it really doesn't get much better imo. I've been saved a number of times with this one, and it has a longer range than the 7500. It's the best way for a speed demon to keep away from tickets, however you still have to be safe. It won't keep grandpa from slamming his breaks to take a left turn while you round that corner at 80.

if it does not have the arrows i do not want it. when i use other de***ors without arrows anymore, it sucks. i would pay the extra for the arrows anytime

I'm sure valentine has some kinda patent on the arrows... but can't the other companies change it up a lil and add it to their detectors? The V1 is about $100 more than the 8500... Passport should invest that $100 and put arrows on their machine.

Here in CA I've noticed that Caltrans & emergency vehicles put on a radar signal when they're stopped on the road. A number of times I been driving and my alarm goes off and there around the corner is a hiway works team on the side of the road.

I think they're great just for that feature.

Then if it saves you 1 ticket it's paid for itself and then some. (as mine has)

I'm in Florida and they are not illegal to own so you don't have to hide them.

I have had the Valentine One for about six months now. BY far the best protection your money can by. I can not live without the arrows. I need to know when the pigs are in front, on my side or back. If you buy a valentine you Will not be disappointed. Worth its wieght in gold.

radars are only illegal in virginia, DC, military bases and canada.

personally I have a Valentine one and they are only useful on the highways, but even then It is not 100% safe.

Cobras suck. i've owned two and they were terrible. imo, only buy the best if you're going to buy one.
