Went to the Nissan dealer by work during my lunch break. I picked up the 15208-65F00 oil filter. It's approx. 2.75", shorter than the 9E000. Both part numbers are for our Maximas according to their computer. This will definitely work for me. They wanted $11 but I talked them down to $7.

Based on what I heard so far, the only 4th gens that have reported oil filter clearance issue are the 95/96's. Not sure why.

OEM is what I use. I hit 5000km really fast, so I doubt it matters that much.

Got royally screwed by some Framm ultra-mega-cool filter once - never again.

www.nissanpartsonline.net

OEM $3.99 each - no minimum. It's a no brainer.

Does oil filter make difference?

I always buy oil filters from Nissan dealer. My local dealer always has "buy 3 get 1 free" discount. It's just 20 something dollars for four filters.

Oh, forgot to mention, each filter comes with a copper washer that can be used with oil pan drain plug(bolt).

I Use Fram 7317 and never had any problems. I have 119,000 miles and still have a really tight engine. It still runs like like new. I just changed the plugs after 85,000 miles and could have gone another 20,000 miles on them. I am running Bosch Platinium + 4's.

Fram

I'm not too worried though, I haven't had any problems yet and if It does cause something to go wrong, 3.5 time. My oil always looks fine when I change it, so i've had no reason to switch filters

You aren't wrong. I paid $6.change for my filter like 3 weeks ago at my local nissan dealer. From now on, on this max and my next 4th gen, I'll be using the Nissan Filter.

Usually keep a supply of OEM Nissan oil filters on hand, but at times have also had to use PureOne filters. Running 10w30 Catrol Syntec and the engine now has 218K miles.

I used to have mad wheel hops. Not anymore, these traction bars work! My only issue now is the tire rubbing on the passenger side bar. Perhaps now that I have plenty of clearance, I can remove a few more washers to bring the bar in. I'll have to try this early in the morning when its not so hot! Yo, I'm feeling like a mini-meet! My trip to the dessert got cancelled because of the extreme hot temp, don't wanna get heat stroke out there. Let me know!

I like the Mobil 1 filters and oil. The Mobil 1 filter is 99.2% efficent whereas the K&N is only 90% efficent. But the K&N has a nut on top for easier removal. The Bosch filters are good too.

comon now, get a filter wrench and its just as easy with that nut, better yet if your cheap just stab a screwdriver through it and twist the screwdriver...or best yet just put it on without too much torque, and taking it off will be easy

I don't care about the nut on top of the K&N filter! I don't have any issues removing them whatsoever because I have one of these.........
