help!!! car wont start

fixed!!!!! Good info. read it might save you money and headaces some day only for 99+

OK here it goes

this morning i drove to work, the at noon i drove to lunch than drove home, i parked the max in the street to mow my lawn, i get in my car, to put it back in the driveway, and this happens

1. I put the key into the ignition started the ca,r and when i put it into reverse it dies!!!!
2. scratch my head
3. I tried restarting it, when i turn the key the starter is trying to turn the car over, it cranks but does not kick over.
4. I leave it alone go back in my house get a beer, and go back out side try to restart it, same thing happens, it turns over and dies, so i go back inside finish my beer.
5. i go out side try it again this time it doesn't turn over at all.
6. so i check all the fuses, all of them are fine.
7. I go to auto zone and rent one of those code readers, all i get is a knock sensor code, I am almost positive a knock sensor wont make you car not start.

I am thinking it could be the fuel pump? or maybe the filter is there anyway I can check it myself? Please somebody help me!!!!!

Thanks in advance,
Al Sousa

if you have another key try using the next key. Sometimes 1999's get the immobalizer codes wiped from the key. May have to take it to the deal to have the key reprogramed.

Zach, Really??? How would it all of a sudden wipe the code? I don't have another key, Do you think it could be the fuel pump?

Thank you for the help

Disconnect the negative on your battery and reconnect it. My car did this the other day. Also check ALL of your grounds and make sure theyre cleaned and making good contact.

Well in that case I will waive my diagnostic fee....Ouch i didn't know it was that much for having a new transponder key made. If you had asked me I would have told you to call a local lock smith they can do transponder key as well and it would have been substantially cheaper.
Either way did I call it or what.

this happened to me too, but its because my tranny had crapped the bed. dont think its the case here though because my car would start in park, its when i shifted into gear when it died.

and yea, dealerships suck. i lucked out and somehow got a free key program...i think its cause they had just worked on my car like that week and i called up sayin one of my keys didnt work. but i watched them reprogram it. its rediculous and takes about 3 minutes. they just put the key into the ignition, plug the key programer thing under the dash, hit a few buttons, put the 2nd key in the ignition and hit a button. and theyre done. and so its about $25 a minute for them to do this.

EDIT: i should have read that you fixed it before replying. my bad.
