Apparently i have one partially stripped wheel stud, and ive been told it will cost around $35 to have it replaced. What would be involved in replacing it myself?
Do i need any special tools.. like air tools or anything?

Take out the calipers and rotor, when the hub and studs are exposed, put a lugnut on the stripped one and bang it out. To put the new one back in, slide the stud through and put a lugnut on it and torque it into place. To remove the brakes are in the Stickies.

dude...get a haynes manual...especially if 35 dollars hurts your wallet, theres alot you can do yourself.

Um thats what you say to everyone. I do have a manual and im pretty sure the replacing studs isnt a normal procedure that would be in it. I just wanted to know what i would need to do it. Ive done a lot more complex things this and i know replacing a stud isnt hard. I just wanted to confirm if it was just as simple as buying a stud and and just hammering the old one out.

yea it is easy, the hardest oart is tightening to lug nut till the stud comes all the way through, but it is pretty easy. i use washers and put them over the stud and put the llug nut on and started tightening......after awhile it comes thorough.

Also, go back and tighten it after driving for a few miles. Some slack will show up after driving on it.

take off ur brakes.....hammer it out slide new one in thru the back of hub...use a few washers and open ended lug and crank away...air tools do help but arnt required...they make it go much easier....i did 10 of them in about 20 min....dam wheels spacers

new studs from autozone cost under $2...i had to replace 2 of mine on one wheel. having an impact gun made it super easy. otherwise its not terribly difficult neither.
