axle bad again after a week???!??

so i changed my axle like about a week ago, maybe not even. It was making a lil clunking noise for over year, and i decided its time before the wheels falls off as i'm making a turn. So i go to napa n buy a rebuilt one. But now the thing is, i'm getting a evern BIGGER clunking noise as i turn to the left coming from the right side. This passenger side i just replaced. I'm sure i did everything correctly, but has anyone heard of anything like this?? i mean i hear people having it make noises after like a week?? is this possible or is it something else????

it's possible that the one that you got was a bad one. I believe that NAPA uses remaned parts. I had this happen twice to me on the same side on my civic.

well chillin,
since u got urs from raxles, u most likely won't have a problem. What happens to these reman ones are like *******s like me who replace it after they've been ripped for like more than a year. Then we give it back to the man. and they just bascially put a new boot on, grease it up, and assume that its fine. I'm not sure what they do to test it, but prob not much and throw it on the shelf. Thats why mine was prob bad to begin with.

if it is a clunking noise listen to see if any grinding noise also cause it could be your wheel bearing.

If you also heard some humming sounds, that could also point to a bad bearing. I finally changed mine when it was clunking pretty bad.

Like humming when i'm turning while its clunking??? I never heard a bad wheel bearing before, so i don't know what it sounds like...if you guys could be more specific, it'll be great...n i'm guessing theres no way of telling if its worn??

clunking isnt usually a axle problem. Wheel bearing or Ball joint could be the culprit.

would a bad axle or drive shaft be the cause of clunking noise only occur when I am making left turns ( noise coming from passanger front wheel)..??

Thanks

The humming I had was while I was driving. Kind of like having worn out tires. You would not have heard this just while turning slowly (at least I did not). When the bearing was really bad, it was just clunking and grinding, then I changed it. I believe that the wheel will have a certain amount of play if your bearing is going bad. Nothing major, but noticeable. Someone correct me if I am wrong...

if your as low as it looks in your Sig, the axle could be getting FY(Jed up because there is not enough clearance for the axle, so when you go over a bump, pot hole etc. you can be hitting it up against something

i don't think that i'm that low because i still have like a 2 finger wheel gap on all wheels. Its been getting worse i think. I can hear it while just accelerating without turning. Is that the wheel bearing on the ball joint?? So should i go to napa n ask for another axle first?? or just change the wheel bearing, and if that doesn't work, ask for another axle, and then finally change the ball joint...????? Correct me if i'm wrong, but the balljoint is more expensive than the wheel bearings right? How much is the bearings n balljoint cost neways?

i would say go to napa buy an axle, hub assm or brg, and ball joints, go home jack the car up shake the rim if it moves, that means ball joint, if not take the wheel off, take the axle off, if the axle is ok then replace the hub, then return the un used parts.
but i definitely thinking wheel brg, just buy a hub and save yourself the headache of pressin the brg off

well i wore my raxle out real quick.....it is because i am to low. when iget some time i am rasing the car up and just dealing with the height, i am tired of wearing these axles out.

my axle is clicking real bad. and my boots look great.

jack the car up,make sure its off the ground, and take the right wheel and shake it at 3 and 9 and 12 and 6 if you have play at 3 and 9 it's a tie rod that's bad. if you have play at 12 and 6 it's a ball joint. if it hums like you're going over cut blacktop(like before they repave) its a wheel bearing. the sign that an axle is bax is clicking on turns. the boot doesnt have to be torn to do it. if all else fails, you have a bad strut or spring bushing.
oh, ald dont forget to look at your lower control arm busings. they may be worn and causing a clunking noise too
and to all the ridiculous suggestions i saw before. the height of the car has nothing to do with the axle hitting something. YES there is more stress on the joints when you're lowered, but it WONT cause a new axle to go that quick. i had my 3rd gen with hydraulics for 2 yrs with no suspension wear at all. and i would go from scraping my stillen side skits to being a foot off the ground.

Thanks shaved max, i'll do that after finals. Update tho, It seems as if it only makes the noice when i'm accelerating. I cornered pretty hard without the gas and just cruise into the turn n out, no sound, as soon as i tapped the gas with the wheel a lil bit to the left, clunk clunk clunk clunk on the right wheel. Is that a bad wheel bearing???? Kinda funny, but why would it make a worse sound now that i replaced soemthing?? or was it just a coinincidence that something else went RIGHt after i replaced the axle?

if all of the advice here doesn't help, let a shop check your front end. that way you can pinpoint the real problem then do the repair yourself.

did you try anything i said? because if not, that's probably the reasson why it's clunking. you probably replaced the axle thinking it was bad when it was something else. dont get me wrong, recon axles can be bad, but i've never heard an axle clunk. only click on turns

i give up. he said it's clunking while accelerating, not clicking. therefore it's not the axle.

When strut bearings wear out, they also make noise when turning the wheel!
