What brand/type of oil & filter do you put in your car!

Hi, was wondering what type of oil and filter you guys put in your car?

I prefer K&N performancegold filters with maxlife motor oil because of the high mileage benefit!

I use either Nissan, Purolator Plus or Motorcraft (Ford) oil filters in conjunction with Mobil oil (75% dino, 25% synthetic).

Amsoil 5w30 or 10w30 synthetic and Amsoil Ea filters. Can't beat a maximum of 25k miles between oil changes.

Although, I still change mine every 5k or so though. Not entirely sure why.

You should check out the Fluids and Lubricants section. I believe they have a thead just like this one. Plus there is a lot more insight to what type and oil and filters most people sue on their maximas and why.

moble1 both filter and oil.

i want more info about the k&n filter tho. does anyone have any information about their k&n. not about the k&n itself, but about the performance and everyday capabilities on the maxima.

do they filter to much? etc.

Had been using Mobil1 Full Synth 10w30 w/ Mobil1 filter, but I was continually having to add a quart over the span of 5k miles (sometimes 2) to cover a rear main leak I've got... its gets expensive. Plus the oil has been turning quite black in the 5k mile span. I just moved to Mobil1 7500 Clean 10w30 (cheaper per qt by ~$2, while still partially synth), and using a Bosch Premium Filter (1/2 price of Mobil1 Filter). I've used others in the past... on my TT Z I had I ONLY used the OEM filter as it was specifically designed for the VG30DE engines... but then Nissan went generic and killed the 60u00 filter in favor of the generic 55u00, which sucked... thankfully I'd bought a few before they changed over... but then I sold the car... *sniff*. Anyway... I personally choose to stay away from Castrol and Fram... my Z had a rod knock at 82k miles when I bought it... had been run on Castrol Syntec and Fram Filters its whole life... *sniff*. I quickly remedied that after replacing the engine a few months after I bought it.

Agreed, Nissan oem filters are what should be used. here is a link you might want to check out. http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/515

I use Mobil 1 oil , change it every 4k. Fuel, oil, and air filters are all oem.

Just switched to synthetic 2 months ago - Esso XD3 Extra, 0w30, PAO and Nissan OEM oil filter. Generally ran Castrol GTX 5w30 most of the time.

fram and valvoline. get it done at walmart for 18bux without all the disposal fee crap. oh did you know lube shops charge you for disposal fee, but they turn around and sell the used oil back to some low budget oil company.

castrol GTX 10-30w and Fram oil filters
96 5speed 170,700 miles

all you synthetic peoples...have fun spending all that extra money
read this study on oils.....catrols conventional motor oil was right behind mobil 1 synthetic.

thing is....you are paying extra since ur getting man made oil....it is Better...but not by much...and if u change your oil and filter every 3000 miles....well....how bad can that oil get...

Since this thread is still not locked/moved, I'll get in on it (I got tingles, it makes me feel like a rebel )

ESSO XD3 0w40 heavy duty synthetic & Nissan OEM 9E000 filter. No dino oil in my car, since I do 2 oil changes a year (every 8 or 9k miles)
