Valve Clearance on VQ

The manual that came with my '99 SE says that you should check the intake and exhaust valve clearances after 50K miles or so. Has anybody done this on a Gen-4 before? If so, how do you do it? Did it increase your horsepower or fuel mileage or anything?

Thanks!

I think the valve clearance don't need to be adjusted. Maybe it say check it only. cause the motor comes with hydraulic lifter meaning its self adjustable.
