Diagnostic Test Ran. Showed 0413
My check engine light has come on and off for the past 6 months or so. Everytime I run the test it shows 4 long and 13 short(I'm positive). It seems like everytime I actually get annoyed enough to make a thread or ask somebody, it turns off again. Everywhere I checked 0413 doesn't exist. So does anyone know what it means or do I need to go somewhere to have a diagnostic test ran?

No. If you read the original post again he says "Everytime I run the test it shows 4 long and 13 short"...I would say that means he's manually putting the ecu into self diagnostic mode by turning the mode selector screw on the ecu and then getting the readout from the short and long flashes of the Check Engine Light, while in self diagnostic mode. This are not the same number that come off a OBDII reader. The equivallent code for this error would be P0153, if you read it from an OBDII reader.

Sorry to drag up such an old thread – but I got one of these 0413’s yesterday.
'98 SE here w/ 122K. Just replaced the PCV valve and the plugs a few weeks ago and the week before that changed out the alternator.
My SES came on yesterday while driving to work. Got home last night and worked the ECU screw:
Got four long and thirteen short pulses.

Overall looks like the BOSCH 13242 is the way to go.
