Cleaning Fuel Injectors

No trying to be a thread *****. Can people give me some pro's and con's to having my fuel injectors cleaned by a mechanic (like Grease Monkey).

I know it's good to get transmission flushes and radiator flushes etc but I'm concerned about stories of all kinds of black smoke coming out of the car during these "cleanings". Is this stuff burning off and to burn off is it travelling into places that can be damanged?

So Techron actually does what it says huh? My car just isn't as responsive as it such be. I want more acceleration for only a little push on the gas but instead I have to put my foot 1/2 inch down to get any kind of resonable acceleration.

I'm just looking into the fuel system first before I consider the KS. I've replaced the fuel filter and I don't see a need to replace the fuel pump unless I have trouble with it. Therefore my next step is the fuel injectors since I'm not having any problems with sensors.

try getting a new airfilter before you go for a fuel injection cleaning.

use ZAK fuel injection cleaner if you do decide to do it.

I have a k&N air filter which I just cleaned a week or so ago. Also have tried fuel injector cleaner already. I use 93 octane gas.

I work for a Porsche race shop in Virgina and we flow test and service injectors all the time. More than half the time, we find at least one bad injector. What happens fairly often is that the solenoid in the injector goes bad and as a result, will dump more fuel than it's supposed to. We've seen cars get better throttle response, a little bit of power, and even cleaner emissions after an injector service. What is your mechanic charging you for this?

We generally charge an hour to remove and $20 an injector to flow test, clean, and install new o-rings, caps and filter baskets.
