They determine it as a car released halfway through the "normal" model year. Oh, and, if you ever do the \\\\\\ ////// thing again, I'll see to it that a mod has a word with you. It's incredibly annoying and unneccessary.

The date your car was manufactured. Check on the inside of the driverside door on the B-pillar. Im not sure what date is considered 99.5 though.
However, If there is an emblem on your front fenders that sould say SE then limited under it. That would men your car is a 99.5.

Exactly, yours is a 1999.....not a 1998... a 5th gen is 2000 plus. Just becuase it was manufactered/sold in 1999 it is not considered one.

mine was made in 06/98 also but its a 99. if you have an SE-L then you have a 99 1/2 . The se-l from what i understand was produced after the regular model year productions were done. the se/l has a badge on the door, titanium colored gauges and rims and a few other things i cant remember. ITS NOT an 00 and never could be.

Several Mfg's make slight changes mid way through production and designate them as 1/2 year model specs.

There was a70 1/2 Camara and a 63 1/2 Ford. These cars are actually known as this. A 70 Camara was late getting released and the 63 Ford had the square back and the 63 1/2 Ford had the fast back roofline for NASCAR racing. How many 83 Corvettes are there, Only one still exists. The other one was cut up.

When I shopped for some parts for my 2K, I was told by Nissan parts dept that in theory there is a 99.5 and it is an early 5th gen made in '99. First few 5th gen cars that came off the mfg line are known by Nissan as 99.5 though they are sold as '00. Some parts were upgraded soon thereafter and newer cars of that run are known as 2K...

gosh, this really IS a retarded thread! lol...do ya'll not read magazines??? They call all the new models the year preceding it with a .5 at the end...like when the 2004 maxima was released, it was a 2003.5 because that's just a nickname given to the cars that were made earliest for each particular model...ya'll are reading too much into this...by calling it a '99.5 doesn't mean it has a 4th gen body...it IS a 5th gen..it's just the NICKNAME given to it to signify that it was built early...nothing more, nothing less...
