350z leather seats in my maxima
I installed the passenger seat about 6 months ago but I never got around to installing the drivers side. Since I'm on XMas break, I decided to finish the job and take some pics.
I remember reading on here how someone else had done the same thing with the cloth seats. He used the Maxima seat rails and seat pan and put the 350z seat cushion and backing onto the maxima seat. I went a similar route, except I put the 350z seat pan on the Maxima seat rails. It required a lot more work and custom bracing, but the support is a lot better than using the Maxima seat pan. I tried to use the Maxima seat pan with the 350z seat cushion and it just didn't feel right.
The driver's side still has power and both seats are still heated, since the 350z seats are heated and the plug for them is the same as on the Maxima.
It has been a while since I've been here, so I'm not sure if anyone else has done this yet. Let me know what you think.
Some of the bracing I had to fabricate.
Bolting the 350z seat back to the Maxima seat rails. The original holes are horizontal so they don't line up. You have to drill your own.
So much better than stock!

looks amazing! as others have said, how much did it come out to?
also, what is the little indent on the inside seam of each lower seat for? I can't picture what that would be used for in a Z.

nice job. I am also thinking of getting g35c or 350z seat. stock maxima seat is one of the worst seat IMO.

Looks good, the leather really sets them off. Im considering having mine recovered in leather. If i do, I may do some black leather with dark grey stitching.

Thanks for the responses. It took a lot of work, way more than I was expecting, but worth it.
As far as cost, I got the 2 leather heated seats with the original power frame rails for $500. The metal I used to reinforce the seats I took from my school machine shop when they weren't looking, so that was free. Random nuts and bolts came out to somewhere in the neighborhood of $15, so I cost to me was somewhere like $515 + gas.
If I were to factor in labor though, at the rate I currently get paid for at my job, putting these seats in was damn expensive. Thats the way it goes though, car modding is a labor of love.
The comment about the g35 seats is true, but perhaps the biggest reason I did this mod was how cheap I got the seats for.
As far the the heated seats, my maxima came with heated seats, and the 350z seats were heated. I wasn't sure how hard it would be to get them to work, but the plug for the heated seats on the 350z are the same as the plug on the maxima seats. Hence, the heated part was plug and play.

Nice man...
Which adjustment controls are you using? the stock maxima ones or the ones that came w/ the seats on the right side?

Those look nice. Is that your car or someone elses? The question I have about those is whether or not they use the g35 seat pan or the stock maximas? They bulge up in the center, so it looks like its the stock maxima seat pan with the g35 cushion over it. I personally did not like them like that, hence all the extra work I put in. Not dissing if that is your car, they still look great, just wondering.

I'm using the stock maxima ones. I thought about wiring those switches to do something cool, but I haven't decided what I could use them for yet, if anything. Right now they aren't hooked to anything.

lol, I really wanted to do the steering wheel a long time ago, but I couldn't find a good option. I thought about going with the s14 steering wheel from japan. I've heard it bolts right up and the airbag will work. Problem is I don't know for sure and I don't want to find out the hard way.
In the end I just rewrapped mine because it was peeling off on my hands, but I still don't like it much.
If you've got any good idea for steering wheel replacements let me know.
