Stupid KS questions...

Well I got the infamous 0304... I have been getting less than normal gas mileage for a few months now and thought it was my AC but lately I haven't been running it and the Mileage only got a little better... so I checked for codes... and sure enough

I also had a realization... around the same time I remember my gas mileage started going to hell, I hit a really bad Pothole... I mean it was like running over a piece of railroad track, almost crapped myself... I thought for sure I had cracked the rim or bent something... but luckily I didn't... However, is it possible that this broke the KS?
And so I have these stupid Questions:

1. Is it possible that any kind of abnormal vibrations could trigger the knock sensor to retard the timing. Ex. Severly Bumpy roads (one which I travel every day to school), Really Bad potholes, etc?
2. Could Hitting a really bad Pothole (I mean REALLY Bad ... f***ing houston...)
break the knock sensor?

The KS is 'tuned' for knock sounds/vibration not potholes.

Fact is these car's are getting old, and KS's are being repalced left right vertical horizontal etc... Fix it

In order to break the KS which is bolted to your engine I would suspect you would need to place the engine into a hydraulic crusher with the actuator placed on top of the KS and apply 3000 psi.

I agree Nmex. Parts are bound to go bad after a while, I know we'd like for them to last forever or figure out a way for them to last longer but they just go sometimes. Its all apart of car ownership . . .maintiance/repair.
