Question about poor man's intake.
alright so i did the poor man's intake a while ago, and i had a lot of problems with my car eating gas worse than with stock intake. i took it off since but i was wondering if that is normal or how i could try to fix that. it was a cone filter i bought off ebay, could it be that its because of the crummy filter or is that not likly?

That would be the stock system that you simply leave alone.
It costs $0.00 and oddly enough performs the best of any intake out there for our cars.

By getting a higher flow intake, you get more air in, more air=more gas, that's probably why your mileage is going down. I too have that mod with a steel mesh filter, and I think my mileage is going down also.

Im getting PR CAI as well... It should be at my door sometime this week. Ive heard many things about it-vs-stock-vs-hybrid-vs-ebay. I think that its an even amount of people that like one over the other for an unknown reason. I like PR because it looks nice and has nice sound to it/cleans up my engine bay. oh well.

I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand that the "gains" you see from going back to stock isn't because of the restrictive snorkel or the stock airbox. It's the stock RESONATOR that improves throttle response and low-end punch. It's because of this reason that a true CAI with the stock resonator > *.

Right now im running the best poor mans intake ever
No bottom half, and i have the filter just straped to the top....
The only reason it may make me burn more gas is because i love the sound of the vq at 4K and up??

What about the stock intake with the snorkel removed? Or an OSCAI? Anybody looked at the power loss/gains from these?
I like the sound of my stock airbox with a drop-in K&N without the snorkel. It's easy, cheap, and sounds cool.
