K&N Air Filter
#2
I tossed the stock filter in favor of a K&N panel filter the first week I had the car (I bought my car new in January 1999). I ran the same K&N filter up to June of this year when I changed over to an Amsoil 2 stage filter. Nothing wrong with the K&N....I just wanted to try the Amsoil. I still have the K&N in the garage. Currently I have 174,xxx on my Max, with original engine and trans. I like them both and would not go back to a paper filter.....ever. I run an Amsoil 2 stage in my Max, a K&N in my 2000 Jeep Wrangler and a K&N FIPK on my 2001 Tahoe.
IMO go buy the K&N or the Amsoil. Its worth the money.

Just bought the K&N and can't tell you how good the improvements are and if there are any since my clutch is almost gone, but I do feel the difference in the sound at WOT which I like a LOT and its not thinking of $1000 I paid just $30 . There is a BIGGGGG thread about what you want to know that was not that far ago, just SEARCH, it helps a lot.

there are a billion threads debating the merits of the K&N, none of which reach much of a conclusion. bottom line: the increased power, if any, is so minimal you won't be able to feel it. on the other hand, its a cheap easy "mod" (if you want to call it that) and it comes with a sticker.

go and get the KN filter because i just did the chopped air box mod and put a cone KN air filter in there and it is working out great. Read the stickies and it will tell you everything that you need to know about putting in a new KN air filter.
