Just a muffler tip? the piece you can buy at wal-mart? That just has 3 screws that you tighten and it sits on there. If your talking about the muffler itself...that requires some welding.

if it's just the tip, u should just be able to slap it in there and should have 2 screws on each side and all u gotta do is tighten it up but if u mean the muffler itself u gotta take that to the muffler shop and let the pros handle it..

Whoa where are you sending this poor kid. If removing two bolts, finding a muffler that has OE fit, removing the 3 hangers and then reverse with a new gasket constitutes letting the pros handle it, BOY DID I SCREW UP TODAY. I think this is my 15th post so be looking for a new thread explaing my ventures.
But seriously that's all there is to it... 3 rubber hangers which posts that come off the muffler insert through hold the muffler to your car. Somewhere behind your rear passenger side wheel you'll find where the muffler meets the B-pipe and two bolts hold it on there. Unbolt those or if they're rusted/destroyed then cut the bolts and replace with some 3/8th nuts/bolts from the hardware store. Don't forget to put on a new gasket. All of this assumes it's the original exhaust and that you either get the replacement muffler at your parts store of choice (non universal, OE hangers no-weld models...) or your aftermarket exhaust choice is a bolt on such as the Stillen muffler. If you use a univeral muffler or a universal has been previously installed THEN you take it to a shop because you probably need to weld.

no it doesnt lol. thats how i got my car to the shop without sounding like a semi (y pipe rusted in half and almost lost my cat-back but yeah, the tape melted all over the place and the guy there laughed his a$s off, but he understood
Don't know if this helps but here are a couple pics of how my Borla is installed. Its a universal muffler (2.5) and I have the stock 2.25 bpipe so welding was required. The tip is welded too.
yo thanks for the pics Northern, i kinda of have the same issue bought a "muffler" of ebay similar to this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-Tip...item518daf06f1 (same size) and i knew there was going to be welding involved but once i got it it started to look harder than it seemed and i started thinking that i was going to need some other type of pipe extention.. this should help me but does any one have any advice? i'd appreciate it..
and if you were wondering...yes i am a noobie.
thanks

EDIT: wow i f'd that up didnt mean to post twice, oh well my b.. anyways,
any help?
saw off the old one and then gorilla glue the new one on
yeah, im goin to do that right after i tape on my paper mache spoiler..
anyways i did a measurement and in order for my muffler to stick out a little like normal im going to need about a foot or two of the 2.5" piping to work with. were can i find that?
wow! the newbie has a really good sense of humor for once.
take it to a shop and have them weld the extension on for you along with a flange. thats the trouble with universals i guess.
personally i would have them fab up a new 3" B pipe while they are down there.
or alot of parts stores carry 6&12" pipes you could use.
i just looked at the link. have them put a 20" resonator on there while your at it so you dont sound like a ricer.
