Failed Emissions ... Pic posted

http://community.webshots.com/photo/...12537876udIWkZ

WTF I failed emissions over NOx ppm. I have a PR-CAI (Ottoman) and Budget-Y. I pulled the codes ... 0505 so nothing. The dude suggested that the EGR can be clogged. Any recommendations. BTW I have a 95 so they stuck a plug up my car's @$$ on the dyno. Also, is there anyone else in the Cumming/Alpharetta/Suwannee area that recommends a shop I can just take the car to?

Did you run the car for a while before going in for the test? like 10-15 miles at good highway speeds?

NOx are typically controlled (lowered) via the EGR (so the guy is right) - you may have a partially clogged EGR system. The fix is to pull the plenum and EGR tube off and clean out the EGR port and tube. Also clean the valve if needed.

If you aren't a DIYer, any competent mechanic should be able to do that for 200 dollars or so (assuming no parts are replaced).

Could be a clogged EGR system. Another forum member was having the same problem with a high NOx ppm reading and it ended up being an EGR issue. Try cleaning the vacumn tubes with a rag and clothes hanger.

Wow I live in Northern Atlanta and everytime I got an emission test they never took samples from the tail pipe

Which emission shop did you go to?
I'd suggest cleaning the EGR also and seeing if that doesnt help you pass, if you go back to them it shouldnt cost anything to get emission done again.

If all else fails

it will be about a 30 mins drive but they dont check tail pipe readins. They check for Cel, and gas cap, if thats good, you pass. $25 gone to them for my last emissions and no probs.

They did the pipe thing because I have a 95 ... you have a 96 so they don't do that to your car.

Well I guess I am off to a mechanic then. My regular maintanence is done at a Tire place that also works on transmissions, brakes, AC, and other annoying tuning stuff. I think they should be able to clean simple EGR crap.
OH and my ABS indicator went off. I am willing to bet it is because my rear calipers are seizing.

seizing caliper's won't set the ABS light. pull the ABS codes - instructions are in the stickies...

you could also make a post in the reginals see if anyone maybe willing to help, I bet they would be much cheaper than any shop. I believe bijan is doing some EGR work to his car. Make a thread could save you a few hundred $

Forgive my noobism ... but I searched every sticky for "ABS" and saw nothing about how to pull ABS codes. I know how to pull ECU codes, but it does take a two year old to figure out that they are not related.
