WTF?code 0413?what is it?

I get 4 long pulses, 13 quick ones.

I've reset it, and it comes back every 200+ miles.

It shows undefined int he little decoder thing, but, why the hell does it keep coming back?

Thanks

I would also like to know if this code means anything...i got the same code twice...was just driving along, then noticed the dreaded yellow light. 04 series codes seem to have something to do with the air system, maybe it has something to do with that?

0413 - is one of the front O2 sensors... It;s not listed in my FSM - but I know its in the Haynes... I don't have that handy - but I'm sure someone does - if you neither of you two have a Haynes manual, get one - its worth the 20 bucks.

You can also pop over to Autozone and they'll pull the code and tell you what the problem is (i.e. which O2 sensor has failed).

Haynes defines 0413 as Upstream oxygen sensor circuit slow response fault (left bank)

DUH. i know that left bank is front from reading that link.

I mean, isnt there somethign in the stickies though that explained it? I figured maybe in THERE there was an explanation of the code 0413. OTHERWISE, i feel it'd be good to add to one of the sticky pages. U see? Maybe my lack of grammar aided in the miscommunication.

On another note, who has the BEST deals on 02 sensors. So far, I found it for 75 shipped.

anything else? I'd like OEM, no splicing and such.

I agree we should add it to the stickies...

www.oxygensensors.com as good deals - get the Bosch OEM equivalents - they are plug and play (no splicing). Mention maxima.org and pay via one of their preferred methods and you'll get an additional discount... $75 sounds about right.

Cheers.

How can it be in the haynes but not in the FSM? Usually its the other way around. All the haynes does is selectively reuse various diagrams from the FSM and then accompany them with vauge and inaccurate write ups.

There are several codes that I just can't find in the FSM... I have no idea why... All the codes that I have found are in the EC sub-section - but 0413 is just not listed. There is at least one other code that has been posted on here that I have not been able to find in the FSM, but has been in the Haynes... maybe its just me...

i30ds - do you have a copy of the FSM? I'd be glad to be proven wrong...

I'm not sure what the story is... I'm sure the Nissan Consult tools pull up all the codes... as it turns out, this one (0413) is an O2 sensor, so you don't really need the FSM to guide R&R... its as you said.

Yeah, but the chiltons/haynes dont have about half of the CEL codes... like 0801 for example.

This online pdf of the FSM lists 0413 as front O2 sensor on page EC-2:

My PDF version of the 1996 FSM EC section doesn't even have those pages!
