Spelling Police on duty sir

Stock 6,600 is fine
MEVI 7,200 is fine
00 VI 7,200 is fine

Of course, if you add MEVI or 00 VI with JWT cams, you might be able to go higher but that might cause a reliability risk.

Stock rev limiter with the stock 2002 intake manifold. Feels cut short a bit. Thinking of going with 7000-7100.

texasluva, you should've been more informative in your original post. It was too vague. Why is TS better? Definately better turn around time, but that seems to be about it, they have both shown gains etc.

Without VIM there is no reason to go over 6500. You would never need to except racing in 1st gear. Past 7000-7200 the valve springs start to flake and you risk valve float. The oil pump also starts to die if you stay over 7500 or so too long.

I thought that was on his fully built race motor with 9000rpm limiter

I know krismax blew his with his 8000rpm rev limit. The limit of the oil pump might be 8000 or so, but I said 7500 since I have no idea of how high it has to be to start to deteriorate the oil pump. I know the VQ35 oil pump is stronger especially in the new 05 350Z/G35c with 7k rev limiter. It might not have blown entirely from the extremely high reving but if you go that high just be prepared to watch the oil pressure light (guage would be much better) and read how to do an oil pump change.

For the main purpose of this thread, 6550 is fine for the stock IM. Look at this thread to see when exactly to shift http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=288967

Once you get a MEVI or DEK then 7000-7200 would be much better. With valve springs and possibly an oil pump upgrade, 8000 rpm should be fine, though at that point; though cams would be a very good idea since you have to take them out to change valve springs.

Wow I didn't even notice the clear 95/96 tails for sale. I would have bought them for sure.

speaking of VTEC, my friend has an integra with a fully built B20 (which i borrowed for a week) and he has a 10,700 rpm rev limiter, its kind of scary going that far, but the engine revs so fast, you almost dont notice it, until you hit the cut-off sending you into the steering wheel
