Replacing Clutch Master/Slave Cylinders & Hydraulic Hose
Does anybody have a link for a DIY on how to replace the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and hydraullic hose? Even just a simple outline of the tasks involved in doing these jobs would help a lot.
On friday morning, the clutch pedal went to the floor, and would intermittently get stuck there. Shifting became very difficult. I checked the master cylinder reservoir, and it was empty. I dont see an obvious leak anywhere.
The clutch itself is 2 years old with only 17k on it. The slave cylinder was replaced at a shop about 6 months ago. I brought it back to that shop and they looked at it on saturday. They said I need a new clutch, but I know they're full of it, so I just want to replace the hydraullic system myself.
Thanks!

I have the Factory Service manual for the Maxima. I have avoided getting the haynes book for this car, because I bought one for my VW GTI, and one for my mother's Jeep Cherokee, and neither of those books were IMO very well written, or very thorough. Is the haynes Maxima book pretty good?

Another word (s) of advice, its relatively simple....I would do the master cylinder first, prior to the slave again. As long as there is some fluid still in the slave it should still be good. once you remove the master check it properly for leaks prior to replacing all the hydraulic lines in the car (clutch related) Your clutch should be fine.

I'm having the same problem right now, as I just put in another post..... And all the mechanicals (disk and pressure plate etc) have been replaced. It's quite odd, but I have had the problem for a couple years now. At this moment the clutch is engaging about 1/4 inch off the floor and it is difficult to get into gear. Bleeding the system and cleaning out the slave cylinder has not helped, the master is brand new. I even lent the mechanics my factory 98 Maxima manual, but it has not helped.
