Help brake light on.

Basically about 2 days ago the brake light came on then went off, didnt stress it. I thought it was the emergency brake acting up cause light would be on when i didnt have it down 100%. Now light came on and wont go off. Car has brake fluid, and when i took the center councel apart i was able to push in the lil sensor for the emergancy brake and light stayed on, so i dont think thats it either. Checked codes and nothing... any ideas? anyone have similiar prob, if so what sollution? Please don't say "take it to shop", i went took automotive classes, bro is ASE certified, and best friend head tech at porsche... just want to know any recomendations b4 i start tearing the brake system apart.

thanks
-carlos

Take out your center console and inspect the ebrake sensor contact, you may need to adjust it. I'm not sure on adjusting it, but I came across it in my Haynes manual once. Just make sure that the two metal peices are not together all the time, only when ebrake is engaged. This will make more sense when you have it apart, pretty basic switch design.

when i took console apart (quickly at work) what i saw was a plug (female) that conected to male pin, took that apart but didnt look coroded and wires looked intact. Also found spring loaded pin that seem to me what would trigger brake light, also seems to be fine/working condition. Pushed that in all the way to check and light stayed on. My ebrake does need to be adjusted though as it need to be pulled up hella far to hold.

all this lil crap makes me wanna just upgrade to newer car again... no time for bs stuff, cars great but fixing lil crap get annoying and i work too much to be messing with car.

Doubtful cause the lever goes up and down and still functions. Have to pull it very high for it to be effective, but i never adjusted it after doing rear brakes.

thanks everyone for all the hepl, my original guess was in fact right. Went thru system today with some light, took off sensor/conetor to pin on emergency brake and light went out. After cleaning and replacing it works fine now. Also adjusted e-brake, theres a 12 bolt under e-brake boot that u can tighten to adjus. Everything seems good now, just need todo wheel bearing now.
