Just shaved the Nissan emblem, check it out!

Well I needed some project to do today since it was so nice out today in good ol New Jersey, so I decided to shave the nissan emblem on the back of the car. I didn't want to shave the MAXIMA cause I like it, but getting rid of the Nissan emblem cleans it up a lot! Here are the pics:

Didn't you just ask about this in another thread? What's wrong with the burger? I'd put it back on.

I like it off, makes everything straight and nice. I took it off using a space heater and dental floss. The only reason I used a space heater was because I didn't have a hair dryer.

This was the first mod I did, and it's a good one. The trunk looks much better without the burger. I like the Nissan logo per se but I don't think it looks good on the 4th gen trunk. Takes away from the clean, mean MAXIMA logo.

just take ur hair dyer or whatever u used and heat it up a little bit, it comes off, it took me like 15 minutes to get all that crap off, but it came off, then i just combined goo off with scratch-x and the rest of the excess crud came right off. its kind of like taking the pin striping off if uve ever done that.
and 86maxima...ive only seen my color on one other car, all the rest are kind of like purplish colors, i dunno if the are fading or what, but i think i have a pretty rare color.

No shadow from the burger? When i changed both the lettering & the burger on mine to red there was excessive shadowing left behind. I'm sure that being my car is black is what made it so noticeable. You should change the lettering to 97-99 unless your happy w/ the spread out 95-96 pattern.

i did it the opposite way, took of the maxima and left the burger. The burger is coming off next. The "shadowing" as you call it can be taken care of with a buffer and some compound. The paint under the letterign hasn't been exposed to the elements so it is will look darker or brighter depending on the color of your car.

looks better, but still bad I think. I believe the rear in any Max looks best without emblems whatsoever. Shave it all.

It'll look alot better completely gone. I just did mine a couple of weeks ago and it didnt come out the way I wanted because the people that fixed my car after my accident took the lettering off and left the glue then painted it. So when I shaved my trunk there was a color difference. But I think Imma leave like it is its not too bad.

Now you have to do your 'GLE' and your pinstriping.

You'll definitely have to cut off the "E" in "GLE."

I acutally planned to do that. I found a website where the letters only cost $40.

Oh man, I gotta strongly disagree there. I think the first thing to shave should have been the GLE. No disrespect.

Good call trunk looks much better with no burger while retaining the MAXIMA, it removes the clutter and doesn't look as bleek or boring when both are shaved, did the same on my Max.

Yeah, I've gotten a ticket for an accord, and oil change guys always think it's an altima.

I like no badges. I'm a very good driver for the most part, but anything that makes the car harder to describe to police is great in my book. "It was a black... maybe green... sedan?" Yeah, that's every other car on the road.
