Most newb question: trunk lock

Before I go to the stealership or a locksmith to fix this...is there a reason my trunk won't open with a key, but will open from the switch inside?

The key goes in smoothly, but doesn't turn at all. It was fine before and then it just stopped working.

Just remove the clip that holds on the cylinder and bring it to a locksmith. It's gonna be alot cheaper than the stealership.

I gotta do the same thing sometime soon. Mine has always been like that. Then again, it is good motivation for me to just get a rearview camera and stick it in that hole.

i always relied on the keyless or inside as well... only prob is, when i was in an accident and the battery was smashed, none of those handy electrical things worked... and i had stuff in the trunk i needed to get out... so i learned my lesson... better to be able to use the key just incase

I'll try it tommorow afterschool. I don't have a keyless entry, so everytime I need to open the trunk, I need to open the door to pop it. Kinda makes me miss my dad's minivan tailgate...

Its possible, if you bought the car used, that they only gave you the "valet key".

Nuts....sprayed WD-40 into the lock and still nothing. The key goes in fine, but it doesn't turn AT ALL. It feels like it's the wrong key.

The key worked fine before, but my dad went to get a spare key made and I guess he tried opening the trunk with it and maybe broke something? THe spare key never worked (in any of the locks) and now my real key doesn't work either.
