What is the possibility of snapping the head off this bolt?

I'm thinking about how to go about doing my UDP install since my impact wrench couldn't get it off. I searched and found that a few guys have disconnected the coil packs, put a breaker bar on the bolt and braced it against the ground, and then cranked the starter and it broke loose.

I'm just a little concerned because my stepdad advised against it because I could possibly snap the bolt then I would be screwed big time. I assumed that this bolt was pretty damn strong though...

Any suggestions?

thats a horrible idea, so many things that can go wrong with that, try a stonger impact, make sure your using a good impact socket and its the correct size. i am not sure about the maximas but some transverse engines the bolt is reverse threads, someone else can chime in on this one.

Ok thanks, I'm glad I consulted the org before I went for this.

Anyone know about the reverse threads? That might have been why I couldn't get it off then... hehe

no it's regular threads.It's on there tight.I was worried about breaking mine since i was using a 2ft pipe over a 3/4 ratchet. It's a high grade bolt so i wouldn't worry about it snapping. Just follow the write up and lock the flywheel.your going to have to when you torque the bolt when reinstalling it.
