Driving on the Lake ***Pics***
Well had some fun today, noticed the lake was a good 12"-20"+ thick, so it was safe to have some fun out there today. Got a friend of mine that had a Digital SLR camera that he uses for photography, this is what we go out of it (Took well over 200 pictures within 30 mins, these were the good ones):
Do remember, cardomain decreased the quality of these, until I get a good host for pictures, this is as good as it gets.

nice pics - no ice where i live - at least not thick enough to drive on.
btw - (i haven't been here in a while) Are your head lights HID conversions or is that a completely different projector-style headlight? srry for the noob question.

I wasn't scared. There were trucks out there weighing 1000lbs+ more than my car. Not to mention, we measure the ice 12" thick in the MIDDLE of the lake (deepest point), which means areas around the shore are most likely double the thickness. 8" is the safe point for a car to be on a lake.

2) not enough time
3) Would make driving at night worse (light concentrated on one spot making the dark areas hard to see)
4) illegal (cannot have more than 2 low beams on public roads, excluding foglamps)

Where did you get it onto the lake? Did you use a boat launch or something? Back home, Greenwood Lake (crosses NJ/NY state line) freezes to more than a foot thick most winters, and I've seen pickup trucks out on the ice, but they've got the ground clearance and 4WD to get on and off the shore. Great pics man, looks hot. What SLR did he use?

What lake were you on?
Kinda looks like Minnetonka ... could be wrong though
EDIT: No ... it looks like EP actually, after I look at it ... at some apartments right off the highway. It's been a couple years ... but I remember seeing that building.

Yeah! I was right! I know exactly where you are!
My friends used to live there.
Tonka isn't that bad really ... my buddy would take his IRoc out around this time and we'd go out to the middle and whip ****ties and stuff.
I've heard a lot of stories too though, but those are from the morons who take a Dodge 3500 Super Duty towing 3 snowmobiles and an ice hut. heheheh

That looks like fun. Here in Colorado I don't really do much out on lakes, but I've been having a LOT of fun with snowy parking lots in the past few days. Just like ice, I only wonder if I do damage to the car by using the e-brake.

Nice pics what kinda camera were they taken with?
lmao The guy has a dSLR which probably costed near $1000 if not way above that. He obviously has an interest in photography and a grasp of the basic concepts. Meanwhile here you are complaining about angles when they are a basic general art (and photography) technique that DOES convey movement when done correctly. Ever see professional photographs for car magazines? Stick to taking level pics of your car in your driveway and let this guy take his great shots in peace
