Installed Headers

I just installed my Cattman Headers for 98 Max 5spd...Wow can i feel the difference. I also have an injen CAI and both combined she really pulls now. I was really surprised of how much differnce i can actually feel, she still pulls in 4th and 5th gears pretty strongly. I definetly recommend getting headers even though Cattman headers are pretty expensive they are definetly worth it. And you can just hear the air whissing through its really nice..Next is a catback exhaust system.

Sweet. Did you do the install or did you get a shop to do it?

I started to do it myself but it was way too hard, i figured it would be easier to take to my mechanic. I figure im gonna go with a cattman catback, any other recommondations for power and a nice deep sound?

Catback will add very little power, if any. If you want a deep sound, GReddy SP2 is the way to go.

Did you own a y-pipe prior to getting the headers?

Uhh the Cattman header system incorprates a unique y-pipe to obtain equal-length piping. How on Earth did you install Cattman headers and use a stock y-pipe?

I think maybe you installed the Stone Racing or OBX headers... then again I'm not sure, but I think the effectiveness of the Cattman system came form its equal length pipes. If you check www.VQPower.com you can see some pictures of the Cattman headers.

He is just confused. You must have misunderstood the explanation of not worry about your ypipe. Your ypipe is gone if you have cattman. The cattman headers come with/replace the ypipe with its own design to give equal length.

Ok yea that long pipe is the y-pipe. The only things left to replace are the catalytic converter, b-pipe, and muffler. A cat-back will replace your b-pipe and muffler. The catalytic converter typically isnt worth replacing unless you're boosted.

Its cheaper to do your own catback... and you'll have pretty much the same gains.

id like to meet up with you one day possibly, i live about 10mins from you. I was considering buying a set of these or just getting a budget Y-pipe in the very near future.

PM me and well talk!

buy a muffler, and have piping ran from your cat to it... with a suggested resonator welded in for "better" sound, but that is preference...

you could just have one put in, and the piping ran, and then listen to it, and if it is too loud, they can weld a resonator or two in for you...

Buy a couple of u-bends at an autoparts store and cut them to size. If you can weld, weld them on or bring it to a muffler shop.

i just got a Cattman muffler, with custom 2 1/4 inch B-pipe (2 1/2 was too loud for my personal preference) also with the b-pipe, its installed after the STOCK resonator (for quietness)
everyone loves the sound, but i also have Warpspeed Y-Pipe and Frankencare Short Ram Intake. I am definately aiming to get the Cattman Headers with Y-Pipe, and i will be selling my used not so long Warpspeed. I love the Cattman Muffler.

might as well keep your car Cattman in my opinion. the Cattman Muffler is like $350 everywhere, i got mines used for $200 and it was still brand new, 6 months old and still shiny as hell. and i only payed $100 for the custom B-pipe near Shea Stadium in NY (all installed) so all together i spent $300 on a beautiful custom cat-back
