I can't figure it out as of yet but i'm workin on it ..
I put the ypipe on a week ago and went to the track yesterday ..
my trap speed went from 86.7 to a low of 84 ?
I don't know wut's goin on .. someone suggest i reset my ECU... i thought disconnecting the battery for 3 hours would do it .. apparently not .. So i reset it yeseterday and i am still waiting to see results ?

Anyone have ideas...Only thing we could think of is that the ECU just isn't giving enough gas on the top end to pull ...My O2 sensors are fine..they came out with ease and we reinserted them into the new ypipe without a problem ?

I'm gonna wait a week then put it on the computer by my cousins shop and check all the reading's from the ECU ...

this is ****in me off.. how am i losing top end with the ypipe ?

That sucks... only thing I can think of is when you put the Y-Pipe in, did you make sure the crush ring gaskets didn't pop out and wedge in the pipe? I know that happened to one guy I know and it was affecting performance. If it is installed correctly though, it should produce more high end. If the ECU has been reset, make sure those O2 sensors didn't get damaged. I have the Cattman Y-Pipe and I definitely noticed a difference. There could also be something else that might have happened to your engine around the time you installed the Y-pipe.

I think that you were suposed to disconect the battery before turning the car on after you installed it well mine is in the mail so ill post back to tell you if it made my car slower very unlikely though

my battery was never disconnected before or after the install.. my batter hasn't been disconnected since I installed my CAI and thats because its neccesary

If nutin else i'm gonna have to take the pipe off and reinstall it .. thas only after i can't find out anything with the computer ..

turn the screw all the way clock wise till it stops.. count to 2.. turn the screw all the way anti clockwise till it stops .. count to 2... turn the screw all the way clockwise untill it stops.. count to 2... turn the screw all the way anti clockwise till it stops..

I put the Y-pipe in my auto and it deffinetly made a diffence in the Top end. Not slower at all. Sounds weird.

Few questions before we start blaming the Y-pipe:

-was this at the same track

-what were 60 foots before and after

-what are your 1/8th mile et and trap speed and 1/4 mile trap speed for beofre and after runs

-was the temp higher

-was your car setup the same as last time

-how many runs did you get in


I've seen differences of 2.5mph between runs on the same day. I did nothing differently, it just seems that the VQ is a bit inconsistent with trap speed.

-what were 60 foots before and after 2.6, 2.8

-what are your 1/8th mile et and trap speed and 1/4 mile trap speed for beofre and after runs 86, 84 mph

-was the temp higher Temp got higher later during the day

-was your car setup the same as last time No he just added the y pipe and before he ran 15.6 with just CAI, it started going downhill after his vb mod

-how many runs did you get in 5 runs before he quit

Wow, this is funny b/c it started for me and Ant w/ out VB's we both kinda went up in times. I finally dug myself out of that hole but Ant is still stuck. The Y-pipe isnt helping him. Yes Ant ran a 15.6 w/ only CAI and now his trap speeds are anywhere from 84-87mph. His times varied from 16.0-15.7. His first time he had was a CAI which lik mentioned before was a 15.6 then with the vb added he was 15.8-15.7 and now with all three he is even worse. I sure hope this doesnt happen to my car. I was there also, he Ant, Sprnt already resetted the ECU for you. You doing it again? Have you done a tune up? How long has it been? Clean out your K&N and changed fuel filter. THat got rid of my probs.

-what were 60 foots before and after--the same 2.4 b4 and 2.4 after

b4 ypipe Trap was 86.7 .. after 85-84

-was the temp higher ---yes prolly 15-20 degrees at the most

-was your car setup the same as last time ---no first i ran 15.6 with just CAI ..now i have VB and ypipe

-how many runs did you get in----then i went home crying

I gave the CAR a FULL tuneup 10K miles ago .. i changed EVERYTHING ....

Synki: my fuel filter was changed less than 10K miles ago .. my K&N filter has less than 7K miles on it .. but if nutin else works i'll change the fuel filter and clean the K&N again this weekend ..
yes synki i'm gonna reset it again just to be sure thas not it...cuz after it got reset at etown i went and dragged that might not be good ..
