My 99 Maxi - Lots of work over the past month - PICS
So, I had a lot of work done over the past two months to my car. Comments and criticisms welcome. Some of the work I did, some of the work, various shops did.
This is just a list of what was added in the past two months. The car has other stuff on it, Frankencar intake, clear tails etc.
My goal was to keep it as clean as possible. I think I did a pretty good job.
These aren't show pics, so please excuse the antenna being up, lens flare etc. I snapped them rather quickly.
Aesthetics
~~~~~~
Full Stillen Kit - Front lip molded to the car. Body shop did a superb job.
All dents and dings removed - 90% of the car was fully repainted, except for the roof.
Trunk emblems shaved, including removing the keyhole for an ultra clean/smooth look
19" x 8.5" AXIS HIRO wheels on 235/35-19 Toyo Proxes 4 rubber
Interior diamond mat plates
Trenz Grilles
Clear sidemarkers
LED turnsignals (mirror covers)
Performance
~~~~~~~~
Cattmann Y-pipe
H&R springs
Tokico Illuminas
Audio
~~~
Eclipse 2454 NAVI/DVD headunit
Diamond M6 Mark II 12D4 subs (two in a sealed enclosure)
ARC Audio XXK 4150 amp
ARC Audio XXK 2500 amp
Rainbow Pro Vanadium Components
Rainbow Pro Soundline coaxials
Kicker crossover/line level booster
Custom trunk install/vinyl/lexan etc.
Stinger 0 gauge wiring, Expert terminals etc.
I still have to paint the side panels and fix up some of the paneling.
I though i didn't like white on a max but ur car single handedly changed my mind. THAT IS HOT....nice red/clears and clean back. Also great place for that concealed display right over the steering wheel!
Posting inline pics
Thanks Jo.
Posting INLINE pics are easy.
Just use the "[IMG]" tags without the quotation marks.
For example, """" would display an image called image.jpg from the specified website.
Thanks. The stickers would definitely come off if I entered it in a show, but they are EMT/medic stickers since I used to be with the volunteer corp. Believe me, it helps when I get pulled over
Thanks Nick. White wasn't my first choice when I bought the car, but black was sold out. So I settled on it and its tougher to maintain but worth it when she's shining and detailed right. Pearl paint is hard to match, due to the nature of its reflection, so if I paint a fender, it has to be blended into the doors etc. Also white shows every speck of dirt.
That location is really a good place for the concealed display. The other place is in the center of the console, change cup, but that requires some plastic cutting that I didn't want done.
i bet it would look even better if you did body color door pillars, ever think about doing that? interior and exterior look perfect though!
that's a lot of work in one month!
According to three tire shops and the plus sizing charts, 235/35-19 was the size to use for those wheels. I'm not saying a 245 wouldn't fit, but thats what I went with. There is always a variance of 10-20 mm that you can play with. I think the 235s look great on the wheel and keeps the speedo as close as possible.
235/19
Speedometer Difference: 0.636% too slow
Diameter Difference: 0.63%
Calibration speed: 60.0 mph
Speedometer2: 59.6 mph
245/19
Speedometer Difference: 1.745% too slow
Diameter Difference: 1.71%
Calibration speed: 60.0 mph
Speedometer2: 58.9 mph
255/19
Speedometer Difference: 2.814% too slow
Diameter Difference: 2.73%
Calibration speed: 60.0 mph
Speedometer2: 58.3 mph
Yes! I have definitely thought about the body color door pillars. I think I'll photoshop it out and see what it looks like.
Next project :-).
Good point Keyser, about the sunroof visor. I never even looked there :-). I'll have to clay that area, as the dirt tends to buildup in that area. You can see the paint difference when you remove it.
The only thing that would make it cleaner IMO would be removing the sun roof visor. May want to give it a try but still she looks amazing!
Actually my body shop did it without me even asking. They said they gap in the front ruined the clean line of it and that molding it would be better and they wouldn't charge me extra for it. They really got into the project. They used a special filler with aircraft glue, warranteed against cracking :-).
First the lock mechanism was removed. Then a small steel plate was tacked into place. Then probably body filler was used to make up the hole difference. Sand that down, prime it, paint and clearcoat.
Thanks Rowan. The LED turn signals are not wired up yet. Will get to that this weekend. I will take some pics for you and post them up here.
The Eclipse NAVI/DVD screen is not hidden when you turn the car off. I'm not worried too much about it, as the car is garaged most of the time. If someone does decide to steal it then Eclipse will replace it within the first year due to their ESP program. If stolen after, then my insurance company will replace it, as its listed separately on my policy.
A stolen Eclipse 2454 cannot be used without the key CD along with many of their other decks. Unless someone has gotten around to hacking it, most thieves don't bother ripping these units out unless they don't know.
Very clean interior. Is the NAVI/DVD hidden when you leave the car?
Nope, you're seeing right. Those are the clear sidemarkers from ProCarParts.com.
