Crappy windshield - how to clean fully ?

What stuff do you guys use to get your outer windshields clean? I don't just mean the occasional Windex treatment to remove bugs, I'm talking about the waxy stuff that builds up over time and streaks in the rain, reducing visibility. I'm having a hard time getting that crap off. Any tips appreciated.

Wash your car often, and you might need new wipers.

I use one of those bug scrubber sponges on the windshield, and it seems to work great!

If you REALLY want to clean the windshield, then I recommend using a Porter Cable buffer along with the windshield cleaner attachment. There is a kit available that comes with all of the necessary products.

goto walmart, and go to the auto paint dept, and look for 3m adhesive and wax remover. this thing will dissolve the bug and tar, and all you have to do is spray and wipe. and then clean with your regular cleaner. becarful not to get any on the paint, or else you'll have to wax the max.(nothing wrong with that acutally.)

+ 1 on steel wool, it works wonders & many body repair shops use it to remove overspray from glass. I have used it many times & it's like looking through a brand new piece of glass. That is ofcourse as long as the glass hasen't been pitted from a sand storm!!!

Thanks for the replies. That glass polish treatment looks good, but I'll give the steel wool treatment a go to start with.
