antenna does not retract anymore ;(

You know how when you turn off the car while the radio is on you can hear the antenna's engine work as the antenna goes down? Well I still hear it but the actual antenna doesn't go down anymore, do you think it can be some stripped cable or something? Is there a how to or a readme on it?

Thanks.

It's not that hard. get a new antenna on ebay, from jrnissan (both are around $20) or somebody said pepboys or somewhere like that had one for like $15. You just unscrew the ring thing at the top and have somebody turn on the radio as you pull the antenna out. Make sure the cable lengths are the same or you'll need to take apart the motor assembly (also not that hard) to get the broken piece out.

See this website, all will be clear:

http://www.carstereohelp.org/DoItYou...ssanPwrAnt.htm

Most likely the plastic cable inside the mast has either broken or come free from the crimping at the top of the mast - so the motor is just winding the cable up and down but not pulling/pushing the metal antenna with it.... you can pick up a replaement mast at Pepboys for under 20 bucks.

^^^^^x2. I got one from Ebay. A few days later I went to Pepboys for something and saw the same thing for basically the same price.

Just check to make sure you clean it first before you spend money on a new mast like I did when I was a newbie. A lot of crap from the road gets into the mast and builds up inside of the mast assembly which prevents it from moving freely, therefore, not allowing it to move. You will need to clean it over and over again to make it work flawlessy.
