After resetting ecu, will it function normal?
I had the cel come on and pulled a code out then I reset it right after pulling the code. I finally replaced the o2 sensors today, 5 days later.
I reset the code according to the instructions from the faq. My question is if there is a problem next time will it trip the cel light again? Assuming I reset it properly (got code 0505 after resetting)
Reason I'm concerned is someone from work told me you have to bring it to a mechanic, dealer, etc to have them reset it with a special machine or else the cel won't function next time.
By the way, after some struggling I did get the o2 sensors replaced (thanks to all who helped) WARNING : DON'T get the bosch universal sensor even if they say it's compatible with maximas. It ISN'T. I ended buying 2 oem (returned the universal) and they worked perfectly.

you have absolutely nothing to worry about. im swaping ecu's out all the time, always checking, reseting, the ecu. I have had auto ecu's in my manual and who knows what else.
as long as you follow the faq (turn clockwise - 2sec - turn back - and repeat once more) and the light goes off you are good.
