Albany pads from Autozone. Great pad w/moderate amount of dust. Best part: Very cheap w/lifetime warranty. Take the pads back when they were out and get new ones for free.

I've got hawk pads with power slot rotors. Love the combo. Might try the EBC green's once these are done

I too have the the Hawk HPS pads with PowerSlot slotted rotors. I have had this set up for a while now, and I like this combination. It stops better than the OEM setup. I have not encountered any brake fade as of yet. I would encounter brake fade with the OEM brakes(not Key Value) and rotors. I do not go to the track or auto-x, but I do some spirited driving when conditions are right. They are quiet for the most part. Once in a while I will get a slight squeal here and there, but nothing annoying. They do dust more than the OEM setup, but I can deal with some additional dust if it helps my car stop a little better. I recommend these.

since i don't have rotors, i use hawks in the front and raybestos in the rear because hawk doesnt make rear brake pads. stops better than oem...but i cant wait to get sum rotors...especially after i put sum more horses on my baby

i have porterfield R4S pads, and they seems to work well. however, i think they produce a good amount of dust. i dont auto X or anything like that, but these pads seems to do damn fine on the street.

so far these are the 3 pads ive dealt with

1) nissan oem- IMO these were very good pads, good all around performance and dusted lightly. i cant say anything about wear since they were pretty much endstage when i got them(used for about 11 months till they were done) they were pretty good even tho the pads were completely done.

2) generic run of the mill mom and pop brake pads.
after the nissan oem pads were done i was caught with no money at all for a good brake pad plus install so i went to the mechanic around my blaock and he put in some pads for me (100 installed for all four plus bleed brakes) it seemed like a good deal till about a month after the install and they were squeaking and dusted baaaaaaadly, if i washed the wheel in the morning it was black a night. they also are horrible at wear, they were finished lin like 12 months and worst of all they warped my front rotors. never get generic pads from mom and pop mechanic shop!!!!!!

3) raybestos qs (still installed). these have been on now for maybe 6 months and are very good pads. i got them from a friend who works at pepboys and he installed them for me. the squealing is none to minimal, the dust is very minimal, and the wear is from what i can see normal. checked them at last oil change and they were good. i added new aftermarket stock replacement rotors with these and have had no problems. brake performance is 6 out of 10 IMO, it is excellent on normal braking but i once had a situation where i needed to brake hard and i was lucky the guy swerved back into his lane(**** head driver). be carefull if you get raybestos, hard braking is not its strong suite.

I have the autozone pads. The metallic ones for 30 something bucks. I'm on my 3rd set now in the past 3 years?. Bets part is, last 2 sets were free. You can either bring in your worn out pads, or buy new ones and when you bring your worn out pads, they give you a full refund. I have absolutely no squeaks. They aren't too dusty, I'd say normal. Can't beat the price.

Axxis Metal Master

I love thethe Axxis MetalMaster pads with my Powerstop rotors all around.

Braking force is very high. The OEM pads compared to this just felt downright dangerous. I never had much confidence in the OEM brakes to stop the car from 90+ mph without fade. Even running around town, the difference is like night and day, the INITIAL BITE on the Axxis is much higher but that is probably because of the cross drilled rotors as well.

The dust is definitely more than OEM. I'd say that I need to clean the wheels every ten days.

if u r askin me than id say they are good for some stock replacments but def are not any better than nissan OEM imo. in fact i would say nissan oem are a lil better as far as hard braking. raybestos are still good all around pads tho just didnt impress me at braking from 80 and up.

I say go with raybestos. They were $55 for the pair at AutoZone w/1 year warranty, they're ceramic, and have never squeked for me. As for hard braking maybe that guy should check his master cylinder because my Raybestos have never ever let me down during any form of braking.

I've had my Axxis/PBR Metal Master pads for about a month now. I haven't experienced any more dusting than OEMs whatsoever. I paired them up with some slotted/dimpled rotors at the same time. Initial bite is very good and it is the same throughout...either heavy 90-0 braking or more. I haven't experienced any fade but I credit that more to the rotors than the pads.

I am using Raybestos QS right now, and I am pleased with everything except the noise. It might just be that I have something in my assembly that is causing the squeak, but they have been squealing a lot recently. Anything under about 20mph at a slow brake rate squeals. However, now having them for 2 weeks, I think it is getting better. I might have just needed a little extra time to break them in.

Conrad, you ought to try EBC Greenstuff. They are a good performing pad. They are expensive, but they bite good. I am not sure on slotted, because I had blanks. That is what I had before these Raybestos QS. My only thing with the EBC is they dust a lot.

I used to have a 2001 Ranger and put Hawk pads with Powerslot rotors and they were fantastic. I just installed Brembo slotted rotors on my maxima with Satisfied Pro Ceramic Pads. Purchased off of tirerack.com. I have no problems with them...they were inexpensive and ceramic. No dust issues here either. The hawk pads do throw out dust but just had to clean the wheels every now and then and not a problem.

so at what speeds have you tested these at? i do drive a lil "spirited" down these old back roads..and sometimes i get suprised by a turn at 110 or so... lol so a good brake pad would be nice to have in these situations.. I dont know what kinda pads i have one now, since i just got the car and i havent changed the brakes yet..but they stop under these surcumstances...but only once...if i slow from 90 to say 15...i have drive without using the brakes for a lil bit...or they wont stop lol...

would the raybestos be the same or a lil better? im not looking for hight performance but something that will take a lil abuse without F#ckin up too much...

I have the autozone carbon metallic and for like $35 for the front and the el cheapos from Advanced Auto on the back. The back rims are 10x more dusty than the fronts and maximas are front wheel drive. I would say go with autozone cuz you never have to buy brakes again.

Dont cheap out on pads. I have some carbon metallic ones that dust like crazy. After a day of heavy driving, I have gun metal rims.

Go with OEM

Used to use Bendix Ceramic. Moderate dust, excellent braking once they warm up.

Now with the 300zx calipers I use Friction master ceramic. Feels like the Bendix, but without the warm up time. Excellent Braking. A little noiser, low dust.

So far I like the way the Raybestos pads handle. I've had them for about a month. No squeling or grinding. They seem to work well with my Brembo Slotted rotors. Will definitely recommend that combo!!!

I would go Raybestos everytime simply cause of low dusting but if I went with preformance OEM is slightly better.

Ive used Axxis/PBR Ultimates, Axxis/PBR Metal Masters, Nissan OE, Raybestos QS ( My order of preference).

Axxis/PBR Ultimates are the pads I prefer and I'm currently running them now. I have absolutely no noise issues; they are as quiet as the Raybestos QS pads I used in the past. They dust somewhat but the performance is phenomenal. I can be abusive and have all the confidence in knowing that my pads will bite HARD. Sometimes I'll go to the "local" track and be one of the first 5 people there and I can get a bunch of runs in (Basically run, turn around, and line up with no waiting) and I intentionally brake HARD to exit the first of 3 exits and I never experience fade while stopping from 95-100 to 0.

Axxis/PBR Metal Masters are next on the list. They are quiet too but dust like crazy.

Nissan OE: bah everyone knows how OE pads perform.

Raybestos QS: The only thing I liked these was how quiet and low-dusting they are. Performance-wise they suck.

I'd like to add my flare to this thread. When I previously posted I had OEM's but now I have R4-s' on the front. Soon my rears will be dead and I'll go with R4-s as well. Let me say that these are incredible compared to stock. I have nothing to compare them to besides stock but these things will put your eyeballs in the dash. I'd say fade resistance is about 90% better than stock. You guys that say that fade is non-existent obviously don't push your cars. So, people that have experienced mild fade on the stock pad, it will be eliminated. People that have experience moderate to extreme fade will have it reduced but it will still be present due to the inabilities of the other stock brake components. Toss some rotors on w/ SS lines and Motul 600 and I'm confidant that fade will be nearly gone in all Auto-x situations and most roadcourses. I don't even have the rear pads yet and I love the stopping power. I'm not even sure if I'm going to do the rears because right now the brake bias is perfect with the RSB and 245's up front. On straghtline braking the fronts lock up much before the rears but while turning the balance is fantastic.

If you guys are looking for a good pad that doesn't create a lot of dust, then you might want to try PBR Deluxe. I used to own Mercedes, and a lot of people on the Mercedes webpages use these pads because Mercedes have particularly serious brake dust issues. I know one poster mentioned the metal masters, but I believe they are harder, and can wear out the rotors faster.

Careful with whatever pad you buy - some of them still contain asbestos, and you absolutely do not want to breath that stuff.

Porterfield here.. Broaner is right I have had 2-3 emergency stop situations with the porterfields and it almost felt like the back end was going to pick up becuase the car just hauled down from 60 in like no time at all. If there is one place I will never cheap out it is in the pads (and rotors) becuase those guys have saved me from myself on more then one occasion.
