I recently replaced the fronts with Axxis Metal Master and the difference it amaizing. Whatever was on there before was FADE CITY. I have yet to get the Axxis to fade. Sure they dust, but they seem to dust the same as the old pads. I also have a set of OEM pads that i will be using for winter....so I'll see how those are. I am running Autozone lifetime Albany pads in the rear and they do thier job.

I recommend the Axxis, they are quiet, no squeeks rattles, or anything. They are really nice street pads.

i had the metalic pads from autozone, too much brake noise and dust. i returned them and now run morse ceramic. almost no brake dust, very lil noise and stop great. i think they were like $35 with a 2 year warranty. also for those that mentioned autozone lifetime pads i'd go with the duralast gold pads, for like $30. i havent used them but ive heard good things.

Brake Pads

I replaced my front pads with OEM pads at about 65k. The braking was fine, not much dust either.

Then when my Max had about 70k I had to replace the rear pads. I used the Raybestos Quiet Stop PGD540QS. After putting the Raybestos pads on I was amazed at how well the car stopped (even with new rear pads). The new pads on the rear really made the car stop quickly.

When my front pads are ready for replacement, I will definitely use the Raybestos Quiet Stops instead of OEM.

Performance Friction Carbon Metallic in the front and Albany in the rear.

I have a lifetime warranty on both so I'm never buying another pad as long as I own this car.

CBK Kevlar/Ceramic

I purchased the cbk kevlar/ceramic brake pads off of ebay for 24+ shipping. Best purchase ever made performance of them is incredible with the cross drilled slotted rotors and no dust. They are guranteed minimal dust and squeek free. Maxima oem pads are known for their squeeks and i have yet to have any complaints about my pads.

AXXIS ULTIMATES are hands down the best pads I've used on my MAX so far. I've used Performance Friction Carbon Metallics - Dusted like crazy and didn't stop very well. I've Used the AXXIS Metal Masters too. They dusted a lot and didn't brake so well when cold. I've used the raybestos pads - those faded really quick and didn't bite very hard. The Axxis Ultimates are by far the best pads I've ever used. The bite hard initally and bring the car to a stop rapidly if you need to. They boost your braking confidence a lot. They dust some, but it washes off much more easily than the Performance Friction Carbon Metallics. Try them, you won't regret them at all!

Raybestos Works For Me...

I replaced all pads with Raybestos ceramic pads. The excessive OEM dusting stopped - my wheels are clean - and hauling down from 100 mph is VERY impressive, with my BFG TA/g-force tires.

I do warm them up with a touch on the brake pedal if I plan on doing something stupid, but getting off an interstate without touching the brakes until the last moment is pretty exciting!

Some of you may laugh at me, but I won't put anything but Morse Ceramic pads on mine. I can go 2 or 3 weeks without cleaning the car and the wheels are totally clean. They have a lifetime warranty and you can get them at any Autozone for like $36

I just replaced both rear brake calipers with rebuilt calipers a month ago because the right rear piston seized. At the time I still had 40% left to the wear bar on the OEM pads. I replaced them with Raybestos pads. The part # is PGD540. They were metallic rather than ceramic, but I'm not sure if they are the QS. They seem to work fine with no dusting and no squealing so far. However, I've only put 500 or 600 mostly highway miles on them.

I still have the OEM Nissan pads on the front.

Unknown brand. Got them while tires were balanced and rotated at local shop.

My wheels are covered in dust after 100 mile commute everyday. They squeak so loud, people turn their heads in parking lots.

Gonna try something else soon. These suck.

I got the Duralast semi-metallic pads from Autozone, seems like this is their brand like their batteries. I have them on the front and rears. They squeek a little but that's not my concern. Lately, I have been hearing this faint grinding sound. It doesn't do it while the vehicle is moving while I apply the brakes, just when its slown down to a stop. I have been keeping an eye on the front rotors, and haven't seen any alarming marks on it made by the pads. One thing though is that when I removed the old pads, the shims where built-in to them. So now I have no shims on the new pads, but I did use the anti-squeek compound (spray-on kind). The vehicle stops just fine and yesterday, I have had to brake hard after an idiot infront of me who's tailing an car infront of him suddenly panick-stopped! My car handled that well. But what's annoying to me is that faint grinding sound.

They are by like 5 times the best pads for track use that I have found. However, they squeak on the streets.

I have HP+'s all around, I easily out brake my tires, I have to be careful when I hit the brakes if I don't want the ABS to do all the modulating. Don't have too much issues with cold pads, they do however dust alot. I have never had any brakes on any of my cars that grabbed harder than these pads.

For you people who see no fade, I wonder how fast you normally go--granpa'. I'm currently running Bosch ceramic pads. Picked them up for $44 plus tax, and they claim to have low fade, no noise/low noise, and superb holding. Only two of those check out--low fade and superb holding. I have these in my fronts paired with cross drilled rotors, and have less fade than the rear. They were great when I first got them, and bit pretty hard. I was impressed, but they squeak now, and its annoying. It could be the dust guard rubbing against the rim though. I'll be sure in about 3hours.

TRW pads... A couple guys around these parts swore by them when I wanted a 300zx brake upgrade- Jeff @ Maximum Tuning in Glen Cove, and Tom (njmaxseltd?) in Northern Jersey. Currently running them- they dust relatively little, minor amounts of occasional fade, GREAT BITE.
Something to check if you are getting excessive amounts of dust- you may have a caliper pin that is seized and not sliding properly. It may need to be relubricated. I had that problem on a set of Raybestos Quiet Stops- dusty as hell.

OEM because my mechanic said they were the way to go. But i've noticed that since i went back to stock rims that they do actually brake alot better then whatever i had on before.

I've just installed centric premium rotors and metal masters. They smoked during my bed in w/ a bad smell. Is it normal like that?

They squeeled once in a bit, but over all they are okay. I figured everytime I braked hard it'll smell. I shimmed mines w/ NISSAN OEM and got OEM pad Retainers too.

Can't beat the Hawk HPS. Great stopping power and little dust.
I've also tried the Akebone proact and they are pretty nice as
well.

For ultimately stopping power try Hawk HP Plus, but only if you don't
mind some squeaking!

right now i'm using Bendix, but I don't know what kind..

For those who bought them from AutoZone, how do you get the lifetime warranty? Do you have to save the reciept or box for proof, or what? I've never really been to AutoZone cuz Advance Auto Parts is much closer to me. Is the warranty from the manufacturer or AutoZone?

Hawk HPS

Installed HPS pads with new Brembo blanks all 4 corners about 6 months ago. Also included new shims. (got shim kits from dealer). Pads and rotors were bedded properly.

Ratings:
- Awesome at 60 - 100+ mph. Great bite and little-to-no fade. No change in braking force even after repeated "panic" stops.
- Good at 40 - 60 mph.
- Acceptable below 40 mph.

Comments:
- Below 40 mph or so, have to heat up just a bit before grabbing.
- Moderately dusty.
- Noisy. Around town, squeal with moderate pressure. Coming to stop, get kind of a metallic-chirping-grinding noise (rechecked installation and saw no evidence of metal-to-metal contact between pads/shims and rotor). Noise is definitely annoying!

I recently replaced my pads w/ QuietStops...I like 'em. They bite well enough, don't dust and are quiet. As for longevity, time will tell.

I have KVR Kevlar pads in the rear (put on yesterday)...and in the front I still have the Bendix I put in during the previous job. I'll be changing those to KVR Kevlar as well paired with Brembo Blanks.

i have ceramics from meineke and no dust. lifetimers too and they work great. the rears are 1. left rear caliper new 5 months ago came with new pads, some type of raybestos. i have no clue whats on the other side but its makin a slight rubbing noise which probably means new pads soon. you don't have to do ceramics all around, you mainly want them for you fronts because of size from what i hear???
