Lets get it straight... which exhaust... intake + y-pipe + _____ ???
OK.. I am really indecisive here... I have been reading a lot of old posts and stuff on maxmods and am in the market for some sort of rear section exhaust.. options: axle-back or cat-back... and from who??
Current situation:
I have a short-ram intake and WSP y-pipe.
My main concern is having it sound too raspy/ricey for lack of better terms. Droning on the highway is OK, its something that goes hand in hand with messing with this stuff i guess. I have heard too many maxes do it wrong, I don't want to make the mistake. Have people had any good results with y-pipe, stock cat/b, and axle-back exhaust? Or will say, an OBX resonated b-pipe sound close to the stock b-pipe paired with an axle back?
As far as companies go, I have heard a lot of good stuff about how the OBX's sound and rank in quality (not to mention price ). Greddy is by far the smoothest/quietest sounding exhaust on a max i've ever heard, but I have never heard it with the aftermarket y-pipe. Unfortunately I have never heard an OBX cat/axle-back either.
Help me out. which setup.. and which company? Thanks guys.

This is a small clip of the apexi ws combo with a WSP y-pipe. I have a 97 se. The exhaust had to be modified alittle (02 sensor, bend hangers) to fit on my car but it was well worth it. I enjoy my exhaust ALOT.

anyway i don't really push my VQ too hard, and i don't really go WOT. i keep every shift below 3,000rpm mark, which is nice and deep, no droning on the hwy.

I don't know maybe it's just me, but I like to actually go to the muffler shop & have the local guy's do my work for me. It allows me to explain what I want, what size pipe, how I want the pipe routed, along with if I'm happy with the quality of the work & for some reason it's a hell of alot cheaper & turns out better then buying some pre-fabbed exhaust pipe. I don't know maybe it's just me, but I think actually going to a muffler shop is becoming a lost art. I mean think about it, what's the cheapest you would be able to purchase a B-pipe for $150 - $300 bucks? I bet it would cost you half that at a muffler shop. Heck I remember when I wanted to buy a Y-pipe. I was like damn $200 bucks, I have to wait for it in the mail & then I still have to install it. So to make a long story short I payed $75 bucks to have a Y-pipe fabricated at my local muffler shop & it turned out way better then my buddy's cattman Y-pipe. Not to mention My Y-pipe is 2 inches at the flange & flares to 2-1/4" & all the bends are manderal. I understand that people like to see dyno proven result's, but you already know what the gains are with specific exhaust mod's. So in my opinion if your end result is as good if not better then what's to lose buy having a local muffler shop do your work. Certainly not additional money for name brand product's. I really want to know what you guy's think, is going to a muffler shop becoming a lost art?

It is here in Iowa...I can't find a place that'll do ANY custom AM work for a reasonable price. I've found ONE place that would install my AM cat but wanted close to $200 to do it.
