Nissan recommends engine oil with viscosity number 5W-30 for all ambient temperatures. SAE 10W-30 may be used if the ambient temperature is above zero degrees Fahrenheit.
There are ardent advocates of synthetic oils. I don't want to get involved in such "religious wars". I use ordinary "dino" engine oil in my Maxima. I can see how people who drive in truly extreme climate conditions would benefit from synthetic, but for most of us the ordinary (and less expensive) engine oil is fine.
I usually buy Havoline oil but have no particular allegiance to that brand. I buy whichever name brand oil is on sale that day.
