keyless remote question

I have a '99 Nissan Maxima. I have seen the keyless remotes for sale on
ebay. The remote for the 2000 looks a lot better then the ones for the 99 and seem to be less expensive. Can the remote for a 2000-2001 etc. be programmed for my 99, or do I have to stick with the 99?

I don't think you can use 2000+ ones. Stick with 95-99 ones

sorry to jump on the thread, but does anyone know if its possible to buy and program a remote for a GXE that didn't come with one originally(one of the few with absolutely no options)?

If you don't have the convenience package (indicated by security light to the left of the steering wheel), you can't use the remote control

If you ve got a 5 speed GXE you are out of luck. I had a 99 Gex 5 speed and tried the same thing you want to,and it didn t work.I even bought a module for the trunk, and no good. Interesting, the wires for the module are there, but there is no antenna wire, and I think the car is NOT wired for the remote entry. I got all kinds of diagrams for that project, but I had to stop, because it didnt work. So I sold the module and the fob. Now I got a 96 Se.

E-bay Remotes

Beware of the remotes being sold on E-bay. There are a number of listings that state the remote works for a '99-00" Maxima but as we all know, they are two different cars. The dealer also says the remotes for the '99 and '00 are on different frequencys. The remote auctioneer does not state that but are very quick to say NO REFUNDS. They almost got me. They will even tell you, "It will work for a '99.
