Can CEL burn out??
Hi everybody,
I recently tried to check my ECU for codes (just for curiosity - I have some rough idle and miss/hesitation sometimes - think I just need a tune-up).
When I tried to self-diagnose the ECU, I noticed that there was no CEL illuminated at all.
I had never noticed this before, but even when you just turn the key to the "on" position (and all the other dash lights light up), I have no CEL illumination. Is this a light that could be burned out???
I just got the car (95 max SE 114k), and when I tried to check the ECU, the tape was still over the slot - so apparently it had never been checked before (or the ECU had been replaced).
Any ideas?
Thanks, Joe

Probably someone who had it on, wanted to sell it, didn't know enough to turn it off properly, didn't want to pay, knew enough to take the dash apart and remove the bulb. Just a thought. Unless you bought the car new, then someone was building your car after a liquid lunch.
