First time w/ nitrous at the track, fried the clutch...need help!

Well i just came back from desoto speedway after running my car. It was my first try with my nitrous setup (50-shot, wet). Well, my first run i ran a 14.5@97, but noticed what i thought to be my tires spinning in every gear. Well, indeed, it turned out to be my clutch slightly slipping. So i run again about 1 hour later, and my clutch never really engaged, it pretty much spun the entire way, leading to only a 14.8@93.

Well, i figured my clutch would still be ok, but i went home anyways. I decided to punch it to see if the clutch was still slipping, and bam, completely slipped in a 1-2 shift. Its pretty much shot, no more racing...

Now, my question is, i know theres alot of different clutches out there, im not looking for a racing clutch or something that will shatter my tranny, but i need something that will at least hold this 50-shot, later to be a 75-shot. Are there any clutches you guys can recommend that are running that much power?! Any sites, prices, experience and everything is appreciated. This is shiiiiiiity!!!

act street (part number NM1-HDMM) would be a good one for the amount of power you were talking about. just don't be stupid with it (shifts). It lists for mid 300's , and can be purchased for upper 200's

good luck

I love my EXEDY Stage one Clutch. I have no chatter or any problems with it. I am also running a fidanza flywheel and have not driveability issues. Though I am not running nitrous... I can chirp third if that helps...

I'm not sure...but I got it from Maxtunningusa when he had a group deal on it. It is the stage one organic clutch, not the ebay one.

keep telling yourself that craigy. Mind you, im running a 14.5@97 with a SLIPPING clutch. Id say its good for a 14.2-ish run. Let me get my B-pipe, FPR, Walbro, UDP and up it to a 75 shot, and we'll see who wins this battle...

And thanks eternity059...I look into that one...

Yeah, if you don't have to stop to drop your tranny and clean out all the shavings from a burnt stock clutch like the originator of this thread.

My tranny never broke or anything, i dunno what your talking about. All i mentioned is that i spun the **** outta it and i cant spray anymore. My car still works fine, i can drive it normally. I just need a new clutch...

My tranny wont break on a 75-shot, let alone a 50-shot...

Very true. God forbid anything like that happens, i do have an extended warranty that covers my engine and tranny. So hopefully it would be taken care of...

Im also gonna look into whether or not it covers my clutch...never know...

Also, my dads insisting that i should just change my pressure plate and it will be all good. But those run upwards of 100 bucks, so shouldnt i just get an Exedy clutch kit and replace everything on one shot since i already have 88K on my tranny?!?!

Did you ever get those dual exhausts? I remember you PM'ing me about it a while back. Let's see some pics...or do you still have a single fart-back?

Look at those two beasts leading the way, with all the small displacement rice behind them. True small block beasts with tiny blocks behind them.

Hahahah I have video of me beating the Corvette in the 1/4 mi.. I decided against dual exhaust, there is no point other than extra piping and added weight.
