Ground Control Noises...

i installed ground control coilovers on stock struts for the time being...

in the front, im getting a squeeking noise when i turn the steering wheel either way, going at slow speeds or stopped.

the rear gets noises once in a while, but im more concerned with the fronts.

when i installed them, i insulated the area between the struts/shocks and the sleeves with rubber/vinyl, so the noise is coming from somewhere else.

what would make noises when turning the steering wheel??

thanks for any help.

strut bearings are not seated or damaged or not lubed

they are they round white disc looking things that are on the tops of the strut above the coils. did you remember seeing them when you installed? anyways they allow the strut to turn when you turn the wheel so that means if those bearings are bad then there will be friction and will cause all sorts of groaning noises. you have to make shure you get them seated correctly everytime you jack up and lower the car or they wont sear right and you will crush them

yes i think i know the piece you're talking about
i taped it to the upper mounts right before i lowered the car off the jack, to make sure it seated in the centre.

i kept by bumpstop on...and the top of it..which is black rubber, is compressed between that white disc and the top isolator of the gc's. do you think i should take that out completely?

or can you list the order of parts that should go on top of the strut?

thanks again.

alright thanks...
this is the order of parts i have on the struts right now...starting from the bottom:

the ground control threaded sleeve, the gold perch, the spring, silver top hat, that little plastic disc, then the mount at the top (with 3 bolts on it).

i guess im missing the strut bearing...what does that look like?

also, all the pictures i see of GC setups, the eibach springs are always written upside down. i installed mine so the words are right side up; would that make any difference?

I dont think the spring will matter if its upside down since its not progressivly wounded. sounds like you are missing the strut bearings. its a disc that shaped like a doughnut and inside the disc is the actual bearings so thats what allows the strut to turn. when you did the install, did you have any "left over" parts? sometimes its hard to explain something over the internet so sorry.

no im glad you took the time to help me...i really appreciate it.

ok this is what's left over...my stock springs and the top mounts for them...like what the springs attatches to at teh top...these really big pieces coloured black. also, the top of my dustboot is off.

ok i do'nt know what the thing at the VERY top is...the stock piece...i think its the strut mount. the thing with the 3 bolts that stick up in the engine bay. right below that piece, i have a plastic disc that i lined up so its centered on the strut mount. is that the strut bearing piece?
