Scratched Windshield?

BEING THE RETURD THAT I AM, WHEN A BIRDY POOPED ON MY WINDSHIELD I USED THE ONLY THING I HAD TO GET IT OFF(A CRUMPLED PEICE OF PAPER). TO MY DISBELIEF, THE PAPER GOT RID OF THE POOPY BUT LEFT BEHIND A SURPRISE OF ITS OWN. A 4X5 APRX. BUNDLE OF THOUSANDS OF LITTLE SCRATCHES. IT IS RIGHT IN MY VIEWING PATH AND DRIVES ME INSANE. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO FILL THEM IN, BESIDES REPLACING THE WHOLE GLASS. I WENT INTO A SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT A PRODUCT USED TO BE IN EXISTANCE WHERE YOU COULD BUFF IT OUT, BUT IT WAS TAKEN OFF THE MARKET BECAUSE PEOPLE WOULD BUFF SO HARD THAT IT WOULD ACTUALLY WARP AND WEAKEN THE GLASS. I'M NOT SURE I BUY INTO THAT STORY BUT THATS WHAT HE CLAIMED. ANYWHO, BACK TO THE QUESTION AT HAND: WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THEM OUT?

Wash it with something. Paper can not scratch your windshield. They are just swirl marks from the paper. I am pretty sure quartz and diamond are the only things that can actually scratch glass.

paper cannot scratch auto glass. unless there was sand/dirt stuck to the paper. the glass is revenging for all the CAPS.

it was probably there from before and you saw it now since you actually looked close at that spot?

I beleive it was the paper, ie this wasn't regular paper it was like stiff paper from a magazine something like that.

and

The what is a buffer? do i walk into the car store and ask the attendant for "buffer". sounds like something from a porno!

Paper doesnt scratch glass bro. But one little grain of sand under that paper while you scrub the window will wreak havok. This has happened tom me on more than one occasion. It can be buffed, but thats not something your going to get done at the local Autozone. Get out the phone book and call a pro!

Find some very very fine steel wool. (works like a charm) go over it with some glass cleaner.

Yes it can!!

The Maxima windows are tinted, this tinting can be scratched!
I just did it to my car in the winter, anything very sharp (even crunchy paper) can 'scatch' it.
Of course the glass itself is not etched, but it looks very much like it is.
I've not found a way to fix it yet. I'll ask the dealer today if there is a tinting product that can be buffed into that area...

I asked at the dealer, but as I guessed, they don't have a clue about their own products.
They said to try apple auto glass.
I'll try that next weekend, as I'm in Algonquin this one.
