Having problems re-programming my HomeLink...

Hey guys,

We just had new garage door openers installed, and I'm having trouble programming the new codes in to my HomeLink.

I cleared all of the previous codes. When I try to program the new ones, the HomeLink blinks as it would if it received the code, but it doesn't open the garage door. I think it's because the garage door openers are so new, but I think there is still a way to program it in. I just don't know what it is.

Does anyone know how to program newer garage door openers into the HomeLink unit?

Thanks,
-Nick

Make sure your doors are not code-hoppers.

Uhhh, thanks for your help "cheif", but the owners manual doesn't say anything about Roaming Codes.

Both of those websites are to sell you owner's manuals. I have an owners manual for my 1997 Maxima and IT DOESN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT ROLLING CODES. I went to HomeLink.com and the programming instructions there also did not work. Can someone just tell me how to do it?

Thanks,
-Nick

Thanks. I have a feeling that my HomeLink doesn't support rolling codes. After all, my car was made in 1997. Back then, I don't think garage door openers even had rolling codes.

To operate your rolling code garage door
opener from your HomeLinkT Transmitter,
follow these steps:
1. Program your hand held transmitter to the
HomeLinkT Transmitter by following the
procedures outlined above (if not yet programmed).
2. Program your garage door opener receiver
to recognize your HomeLinkT Transmitter
(The HomeLinkT Transmitter follows the same procedure to train to the receiver as
your hand held transmitter did when it was
first installed):
a) Remove the cover panel from your
garage door opener receiver. The
receiver should be located by the
garage door opener motor.
b) Locate the training button on the
garage door opener receiver. The
exact location and color of the button
may vary by garage door opener
brand. If you have difficulty locating
the training button, reference your
garage door opener manual. If you
have difficulty programming your garage
door opener equipped with a
rolling code system to recognize the
HomeLinkT Transmitter with the rolling
code feature, call INFINITI Consumer
Affairs Department.
c) Press the training button on the garage door opener receiver for 1 to 2
seconds.
d) Return to the HomeLinkT Transmitter
in the vehicle, and depress the programmed
HomeLinkT button for the
duration of the fast blink on the
HomeLinkT Transmitter (1 to 2 seconds).
Release the button, and repress
to confirm that the system has
trained.
e) Your garage door opener should now
recognize your HomeLinkT Transmitter.
You may use either your
HomeLinkT Transmitter or your original
hand held transmitter to open
your garage door.

You are partially right. In 1997 there were rolling code garage door openers. But the 1997 maxima's homelink system did not support them. You need a 1998 and up visor with homelink. It hooks right up to your car and works with your new garage door opener.

I have a 1999 SE and a rolling code garage door opener and it works.
